Carcassonne Festival attracts stars from across the globe

As July arrives, one of France's biggest festivals gathers speed

One of France's major events, the Carcassonne Festival graces its medieval walled city with 'A-list' international performers Beach Boys, James Blunt, Christopher Cross, Bryan Ferry, Ben Harper, Iggy & the Stooges, Tom Jones, Moby, Supertramp and Texas.

The festival lasts from mid-June until well into August with the big names performing in the Théâtre Jean Descamps which hides itself away in the ancient walled town. What better way to finish a day of medieval legend than dinner in one of the Cité's many restaurants followed by a top-of the-bill concert?

Appearances from James Blunt and Ben Harper are already sold out but the rest of the international programme is there for the taking. All performances here start at 21:30, starting with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, 9 July.
