Introduction

Even before you reach this property, you'll see a lot of the spectacular surrounding countryside. Whether it's the short drive from Carcassonne airport, or the breathtaking trip from the A9 auto route through the vineyards and valleys, this is a truly exceptional part of the famous Languedoc region.

The property itself sits in a peaceful, tree-lined boulevard on the outskirts of the very traditional little village of Montlaur.

Just a couple of minutes walk into the village where you will find: café/bar, butcher, baker, general store, newsagent, post office, children's park and two wine caves.

The large, spacious house has been fully redecorated and furnished with a mix of modern and traditional furnishings.

A charming terrace allows al-fresco dining at all hours and there is of course the large fenced garden that contains the new private swimming pool 8 x 4 x 1.5m. Paved and grassed areas for sunbathing. Large orchard with many different mature fruit trees.

There is so much to do and discover in the area:

Mediterranean beaches 45 mins, Carcassonne 20 mins, swimming lakes 30 mins, ski-stations and the Spanish border 1 hour.
This is an ideal mix of village and rural living.
All amenities close at hand, yet a quiet and tranquil base from which to explore everything that the region has to offer.

All facilities in Montlaur, two minutes' walk including tennis, horse-riding and boules court. And ostrich farm!

Carcassonne 20 mins for Ryanair airport, fantastic fortified city and cultural events, restaurants and golf.
Lagrasse 25 mins is one of the most beautiful villages in France and offers spectacular scenery and a huge choice of restaurants for a memorable night out. Good shopping also.

Mediterranean beaches 45 mins which stretch from Montpellier down to the Spanish border.
Wonderful sandy beaches with tasteful entertainments and beachfront restaurants and cafés.
The 'Etang de L'Ayrolle' offers some of the best windsurfing in Europe.

Wine tasting everywhere, numerous private caves and roadside vendors. Beautiful vineyards (Corbieres, Minervois and Fitou) and impressive valleys and rivers. Visit the town of Limoux for its famous sparkling wine.

Don't miss the Canal du Midi for walking and cycling. Lake swimming and rafting just north of Carcassonne.
Enjoy the natural springs at Aix-les-Bains and treat yourself to an extravagant lunch across the Spanish border. Or venture to Barcelona (2hrs 30 mins) for a long weekend.

Fantastic and spectacular scenery along the Côte Vermaille and the lovely beach resorts and harbour at Collioure and Banyuls.

• * Sterling & Dollar rates are provided ONLY as a guide - all rentals are payable in EUROS.
• Prices are for the rental of the entire property above, per week.
• Bookings run from Saturday 4pm to Saturday 10am and include electricity, water, linen and towels (not beach towels).
• Please note electricity / heating is not included November to end April.
• No smoking in the property.
