Rental villa in the Languedoc with heated pool

Introduction

This stylish single-storey villa is situated in a quiet location with stunning views over vineyards and the Black Mountains.

Yet from the villa you are only a 5 minute walk to Montréal village centre, where you will find bakeries, a butcher, pharmacy, post office, a bank with cash machine and a supermarket, which is open on Sunday morning. There is also a typical cafe and restaurant.

The villa is beautifully decorated, with all the home comforts you could need. There has even been clever use of a spare room near the bedrooms - this has been converted to a walk-in wardrobe, with plenty of space for all the family's clothes and suitcases, thus leaving the bedrooms feeling spacious and uncluttered.

The villa comprises of 3 bedrooms, two with double beds and one with two single beds (maximum occupancy 4 people). The master bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom. There is an additional shower room and separate WC.

The kitchen/dining room is a lovely bright and airy room with stunning views over the countryside.

The lounge is large and comfortably furnished, with doors leading off onto a lovely little terrace where you can enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a hard day's sunbathing.

Outside there are 3 further terraces:

The top terrace has a large dining table, comfortably seating 6, and a gas BBQ. From here you can enjoy the stunning views over vineyards, sunflower fields and the Black Mountains beyond.

The middle terrace also has dining facilities including a charcoal BBQ. This has a more intimate feel, with a lovely view over the garden to the pool below.

Finally, you have the large pool terrace, where you can swim in the heated 9 x 4m pool or lounge on one of the elegant wooden steamer chairs with a cold drink, enjoying the uninterrupted views. Additionally the pool is UV treated, so there are no harsh chemicals to contend with.

The villa also benefits from oil-fired central heating, which makes it a good base for skiing during the winter.

Map & local information

The village of Montréal lies 20 mins west of Carcassonne, close to the Canal du Midi.

The villa is walking distance to the village centre which has all amenities and a tourist office.

You are only 25 minutes drive to the ancient walled town of Mirepoix. Many of the houses are 500-600 years old and are half-timbered with sturdy carved beams jutting over ground floor arcades. Lose yourself around the maze of streets, or sit in one of the pavement cafes in the main square and enjoy one the many wonderful local wines.

All outdoor activities are available in and around the area: tennis, golf, fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, horse riding, bicycle hire, helicopter trips, skateboarding, go-carting and rambling.

The medieval city of Carcassonne is a lively evening destination, with dozens of cafes and restaurants and outdoor live music during the summer months. Should you be lucky enough to visit on Bastille Day (July 14th), you'll understand why the fireworks in the city are renowned throughout France.

The Canal du Midi, a world heritage site, meanders through the centre of Carcassonne flowing out to the Mediterranean Sea providing gentle boating for all. There is also a good choice of canal-side restaurants.

The Mediterranean, with its wonderful seaports, stunning beaches and great seafood restaurants is less than an hour away.

Whilst in just over an hour's drive you can reach Spain or the ski resorts of the Pyrenees.

• * Sterling & Dollar rates are provided ONLY as a guide - all rentals are payable in EUROS.
• Prices are for the rental of the entire property above, per week.
• Bookings run from Saturday 4pm to Saturday 10am and include electricity, water, linen and towels, (including beach/pool towels).
• Please note electricity and heating are not included November to end April.
• Pool open May 1st - end of September. Extended periods by request.
• No smoking in the property.
