The Perigord region is famous for its castles, historic sites and gastronomy including the black truffle, fois gras and the local wines.
Activities include boating, horse riding, golf at Bergerac and Perigueux (30 minutes). From the house there are many delightful walks through the forest and countryside where wildlife abounds such as deer, wild boar etc.
Supermarkets, restaurants, post office and bakery are 5 min drive away at Neuvic and the market town of Mussidan is 15 mins for a large selection of shops and restaurants.
Perigeuex, the capital of the Dordogne, is 30 minutes by car. There are local street markets everyday of the week.
Perhaps the most famous of the Dordogne tourist attractions are the cave paintings around Les Eyzies. There are more pre-historic caves in this area than you could ever visit in a day!
Nearby Lac Jemaye is one of several lakes in the area offering a beach, children’s playground, nature trails, canoeing and pedaloes. With picnic area, restaurant and snack bar.

The property is located in the hamlet of St Severin d'Estissac, almost midway between Bergerac and Perigueux.

Lac Jemaye is one of several lakes in the area offering a beach, children’s playground, nature trails, canoeing and pedoloes. With picnic area, restaurant and snack bar it offers a great day out.
There are several bastide towns throughout the valley of the Dordogne, the region of France which boasts the most chateaux. Perigueux, the capital of the department, with its cathedral and ancient city centre is half an hour away.
St. Emilion and the many vineyards of the region are a must for those who wish to sample and perhaps take home some very fine wines.
A little further afield are the classic sites of the Dordogne Valley - dramatic cliff top villages and troglodyte settlements.
