Lacabane is a spacious rustic farmhouse dating back to the 14th century in small quiet hamlet with no passing traffic.

The accommodation is all on first floor accessed by impressive exterior stone steps/staircase. Large covered terraces on both sides of the property are accessible from the kitchen and dining room and provide elevated views of the surroundings.

The property is situated in a small hamlet in open countryside close, Nontron (10km) and Mareuil (11km). 30 minutes north of Brantôme.

Lovely countryside all around to explore with many small, traditional villages. The Dordogne lies just to the south with its beautiful scenery and famous caves.

Friday is market day in the medieval village of Brantome. Traders from the surrounding area's descend upon the fortified village offering all manor of goods from rare and unusual foods to local art and clothing. A chance to see part of the old France at it's best.

The Venice of Perigord Surrounded by a loop in the river Dronne the village of Brantôme with its 2000 inhabitants has come to be known as "the Venice of the Périgord". Pride of place is the towns Benedictine abbey which dates back to 769 or 786.

Bramtome Abbey. Founded by Charlemagne in the 9th Century and although a good deal of the original structure has fallen into disrepair there are still signs of the the history that has etched it's journey. The 11th Century bell tower remains and as you journey through the dark chambers within you are reminded of the history that that evolved.

The Subterranean Church at Aubeterre. The Eglise of St Jean, the largest of Europe's subterranean churches. Originally hermit caves that were gradually adopted by the church and then local communities established . Benedictine monks enlarged the caves which dates back to before the 400th Century. As recent as 1961, when a lorry collapsed an over head road revealing a hitherto undiscovered cavern. The history surrounding the sacrfices and subsequent full emersion into Christianity are witness to the 4th Century crosses carved into the font.

Airports at Bergerac (100km), Bordeaux (150km), Limoges (80km) and Poitiers (150km).
