Local Information
The property is located on a single track lane on the edge of a residential area on the outskirts of the village of Aramon.
Aramon lies on the left bank of the Rhone river, midway between Avignon (15 min) and Beaucaire, 15 min). 700 metres to the village centre (approx 10 min walk or 1 min drive) with 4 restaurants, 2 café bars, pizzeria, 2 bakeries, mini-supermarket, butcher and pharmacy.
Easy drive to Avignon with its unmissable Pope's Palace and famous half-bridge. Beautiful town with great shopping and numerous summer cultural events.
Mediterranean beaches at Sète. Maries-de-la-Mer, 75 min.
The Roman town of Arles is 30 min drive. Many Roman and Romanesque monuments are still in use today; the amphitheatre provides the setting for bullfights and concerts, and what remains of the theatre plays host to formal concerts and traditional folk festivities throughout the year. The Cathedral of St Trophime, with its magnificent doorway depicting the Last Judgement carved in stone and its beautiful cloisters, is open to the public for visits and Sunday services.
The necropolis, or Alyscamps, is today a narrow, tree-lined avenue, located just outside the old town.
Many lovely restaurants and pavement cafés. Van Gogh spent two years of his life here, so there are may related tours and souvenirs to be found.
Arles also boasts one of the regions finest markets every Wednesday and Friday. Overflowing with Provençal goodies - fruits and vegetables, lavender products, soaps, olives, flowers, honey... The list is endless and makes the Arles market an event not to be missed!
Also not to be missed is a day out to Avignon to discover the winding streets and lovely Provençal shops. Here you’ll find the wonderful ‘Pope’s Palace’ - the former home of the Pope which really is spectacular. And the infamous ‘half-bridge’!
