Local Information
The property is located a short walk from the village of Taillecavat. The house itself is down a short no-through-road, with the closest neighbours around 100m away. It is on approx an acre of land and borders one of the many local vineyards set amongst the beautifully undulating countryside of the Gironde.
Taillecavat is on the southern border of where the Dordogne runs into the Bordeaux vineyards. Basic amenities in the village including bread and groceries.
The pretty Bastide towns of Monségur, Duras & Eymet, with their vibrant weekly markets, are only a few mins by car. Excellent shops also.
The gentle rolling countryside of the Dropt valley is one most idyllic parts of France and is ideal for cycling and hiking. Facilities are available within a radius of 30 minutes for riding and playing tennis, or canoeing and fishing on the river Dropt or Dordogne.
The magnificent Golf course at Chateau de Vigiers is only 15 mins away.
Ideal base for visits to the Dordogne valley with its world famous pre-historic cave paintings, caverns and pre-historic cliff dwellings as well as the romantic medieval Chateaux of the Dordogne and the ' Bastide' towns (fortified market towns) which remain largely as they were 600 years ago.
World renowned wine tasting is available locally in the Duras, Sauterne, Marmande, Bergerac and Monbazillac areas as well as in Graves, Médoc and the picturesque medieval town of Sainte-Emillion.
There are regular markets in the local picturesque towns of Duras, Sainte-Foy- la- Grande and Eymet, along with many others in the area. On the first Sunday of each month, the old town of Bergerac transformed into a large antique market.
Bordeaux, with its opera house, art galleries, museums, shops and the lovely broad sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast are little more than an hour away. Moreover, Biarritz, located further south on the Atlantic coast, is still within striking distance of a day-trip.
