Local Information
The village of Laurens is nestled amongst the beautiful Languedoc vineyards and is the centre of the increasingly popular Faugeres appellation.
Village life centres around the wine trade; visit the Faugeres information centre in the chateau or wander for miles through the beautiful lanes among the vineyards just steps from the house.
The vibrant town of Pézenas lies just 20 minutes away. Dozens of restaurants, pavement cafés and possibly the best Saturday market in the whole of the Languedoc.
Huge choice of Mediterranean beaches, the closest, Valras Plage is just 23 miles away. Choose from many superb seafood restaurants along the coast, Meze and Bouzigues are particularly famous for their oysters. Similarly, Agde and Sete have fantastic harbours where you can buy fresh seafood straight from the boats.
Don't miss a stroll along the Canal du Midi. Ideal in the heat of summer as the towpaths are shaded by the huge plane trees.
Béziers and Montpellier have further great restaurants and shops. Wonderful flower market in Beziers on Fridays.
Carcassonne and Nimes are just over an hour away. Barcelona can be reached by car in 2 1/2 hours.
