Local Information
The property is located on the edge of the village of Laurens. Laurens lies 35 mins from the Mediterranean coast, 15 mins north of Beziers, between Montpellier and St Chinian.
Life in the village revolves around the endless surrounding vineyards and the local wine production; Laurens is the centre of the famous 'Faugères' appellation and has a superb outlet selling a huge range of local wines and produce.
The superb chateau in the village, houses the main Faugères office where you can learn more about the wine and the region. In the village itself, despite a population of around only 800, you'll find two bakeries, grocery store, newsagent, chemist, butcher and hairdresser. Local campsite (1 km) for horse riding and great restaurant.
Just 2 kms through the vines is the amazing Chateau de Grezan, independent wine-producer and superb restaurant, owned by the famous Lanson family of Champagne.
More restaurants and cafés, supermarket and pizzeria in Magalas, 8 kms.
The shimmering Mediterranean and sandy beaches lie just 35 kms from the house. Water sports, boat trips, beachfront restaurants and cafés. Sit and watch the world drift slowly by...or discover the fun and activities in the old village of Agde and the chic resort of Cap d'Agde:

Follow the Cathar trail with numerous historic sites.
And the unmissable fortified city of Carcassonne. Great day out to Provence, stopping off at the Pont du Gard (90mins) on the way.
Avignon with its Papal Palace and half bridge, Arles with its amazing amphitheatre and Van Gogh connections, the Camargue national park with pink flamingos and white horses.
Or head west to the Spanish border (90 mins) and spend a long weekend in Barcelona ! (2 1/2 hrs).
