Local Information

The property is located in the centre of Portiragnes village, located between Montpellier and Beziers.

Budget airlines fly into the following nearby airports; Montpellier, Nimes, Carcassonne, Perpignan, Toulouse, Rodez, Gerona and Barcelona.

Portiragnes is a charming village situated just 2 miles from 'the longest beach in France'. Glorious sandy beaches stretching for miles, ideal for children of all ages with full range of water sports, cafés and restaurants. The village itself has all facilities; baker, grocery store, newsagent, wine outlet, café, restaurant and wonderful traditional markets, all within a minutes or two walk from the villa. Many summer festivals and cultural events, tennis and bike hire.

Minutes to the beautiful tree-lined Canal du Midi. Ideal for walking or cycling or just sitting in a café or restaurant watching the boats drift by.

Just along the coast is the lovely old village of Agde with its winding streets, restaurants, pavement cafés and bars, and harbour where you can buy fresh seafood straight from the boats in the morning. Cap d'Agde with its fashionable shops, restaurants and nightlife, further beaches, bike hire, tennis, golf and huge water park 'Aqualand'.

Wine tasting almost everywhere. The Languedoc is the biggest wine-producing region in France.

Superb fish restaurants in the chic resort of Sète and the seafood capital of Meze. Golf in Beziers, beautiful hiking and mountain walking in the nearby hills and gorges of the Languedoc National park. Lovely freshwater swimming in the rivers or at Lake Salagou.

Beziers (10 mins) has great shopping, restaurants, fantastic 4 day street festival ('Feria') in August, superb Friday flower market and huge hypermarkets.

Beautiful beaches stretching along the famous and scenic 'Cote Vermaille' down to the Spanish border and imposing Pyrenees (only 80 minutes away). Don't miss a trip to the fortified city of Carcassonne or head east to the Pont du Gard and further into Provence (1 hr).
