Local Information
This is a very peaceful location but for those that prefer more action on holiday there are many activities available locally (either from the village or up to 15 minutes away) including archery, canoeing / kayaking, golf, hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, pony trekking, rock climbing, tennis, trout fishing, walking and wine tasting.
The villa is just 500m from the village centre of Mons la Trivalle where amenities include boulangerie, small supermarket, butcher, wine caves, auberge café-bar, restaurant, tabac, post office, and pizzeria.
A few minutes walk leads you to the start of the Caroux mountains where hiking, rock climbing, swimming in the natural lakes, rambling, bird and nature watching can all be enjoyed.
Nearby is the lovely village of Olargues (one of the official 'most beautiful villages in France') with all amenities including great restaurants.
Don't miss also the equally delightful perched village of Roquebrun.
The Languedoc region is unrivalled for its richness. Not only is it a nature lover's paradise with beautiful and peaceful surroundings but the market towns of Castres and Pézenas, the cosmopolitan shops of Montpellier, medieval Carcassonne and coastal towns specialising in seafood dishes all have plenty to offer. There are miles of sandy, Mediterranean beaches to be enjoyed, the nearest is about 55 minutes drive although there is a river beach 20 minutes away in Roquebrun. For water lovers there are a variety of watersports at the Lac de Salagou and fantastic boat trips on the Canal du Midi.
The delicious local wines, now becoming increasingly acknowledged outside France, are still extremely cheap. But they are good. Rose and red are the speciality of the region and an afternoon wine-tasting at one of the many chateaux on the Route des Vins within the St. Chinian and Faugeres appellations is a hard outing to better for pure enjoyment.
Come and see why this rich, unspoilt region remains one of France's best kept secrets.
