St Geniès (population 1083) is a charming, traditional wine-producing village in the heart of the Languedoc vineyards. Life here revolves around local wine production and the village has several of its own 'caves'. Amenities include café bar, newsagent, grocery store and post office.
Pizzeria, two excellent restaurants, further café bars, supermarket and bank in nearby Magalas (3 km). Famous restaurant and chateau of Grézan only 3 km also.
For the children and sun-worshippers, the amazing sandy beaches of the Mediterranean lie just 18 miles to the south. All water sports are catered for as well as having a large range of excellent cafés and seafood restaurants.
The town of Béziers (10 miles) offers something for everyone. A huge tree lined boulevard hosts endless cafés and outdoor restaurants as well as an enormous flower market on Fridays. This is not to be missed.
For the adventurous, there are two golf courses within 20 minutes of the villa and wonderful opportunities for canoeing and kayaking and river and lake swimming and hiking right on the doorstep.
The delightful, waterside village of Agde (30 minutes) will charm you with its beautiful old painted village houses, winding streets with fascinating shops, superb restaurants and traditional markets. Possibly the best place to buy fresh fish in the Languedoc. Early-risers can buy straight from the returning fishing boats in the morning.
