Map & local information

The property is situated in a quiet side road on the edge of the village of Espondeilhan. Espondeilhan is located midway between Béziers and Pézenas (15 min), 30 min from the Mediterranean coast.

The village (2 min walk) has a bakery / newsagent / take-away pizza. All amenities in picturesque village of Magalas, 5 min, with three restaurants and two café bars. Grocery store, bank and supermarket. Further shops and café bar restaurants in Roujan, 10 min.

The lively town of Pézenas lies just 20 min away and has a huge choice of lovely pavement café bars and traditional restaurants hidden away in the winding streets. Four supermarkets and wonderful Saturday market. Pézenas is probably the most charming town in the Languedoc and hosts many concerts, festivals and cultural events throughout the summer.

Mediterranean beaches are only 30 minutes away with many pavement cafés and restaurants.

Agde (45 min): 'Les Halles' - fresh produce market, daily (except Monday) Bakery, Fresh fish shops, Wine shop, 2 supermarkets, Huge choice of cafés and restaurants, Artisan shops, Antique market (Wednesdays) Harbour - for fresh fish direct from the boats. Traditional market (Thursdays).

At Cap d'Agde: More beaches! Giant 'Aqualand' water park (for children and adults). Cafés and restaurants, harbour and port golf bicycle hire and go-karting. Water sports, discos / nightclubs. Boat trips, casino.

Lovely medieval villages including the spectacular Roquebrun which somehow hangs onto the edge of the hill! Don't miss a walk along the shaded banks of the Canal du Midi. Further afield lies the astounding fortified city of Carcassonne (1 1/4 hrs from Pézenas). Wonderful walking, trekking, canoeing and rafting in the gorges and rivers of the Languedoc National Park. Lake Salagou for super swimming and water sports.

Carcassonne (1 hr) with its imposing fortified city and further vineyards of the famous, Corbières, Minervois and Fitou wine.

Famous 'seafood' restaurants at Bouzigues and Mèze.

Further lovely beaches at Marseillan.

Provence within easy reach for a day out. Stop off at the Pont du Gard before seeing Avignon, Arles, Nimes and the Camargue.

Fly into any one of the following airports, all within 90 minutes of the house; Montpellier (only 40 mins), Carcassonne, Perpignan, Nimes.
