Introduction

Situated in a picturesque, wine-producing village, this modern villa offers comfortable accommodation and lovely, south-facing views over the countryside and village centre.

It's a 5 minute walk from the property to the local amenities in Gabian. Here you'll find a bakery, newsagent, grocery store and café bar / restaurant. 10 min further south brings you to probably the prettiest town in the Languedoc, Pézenas with its winding streets, traditional markets, cultural events and huge choice of restaurants and cafés.

Mediterranean beaches lie just 30 min away.

The villa itself is set in a very quiet residential area, on the side of a hill with fantastic views. Small, no-through-road ensures no passing traffic.

Living accommodation is spread over 2 floors; ground floor with open-plan living and dining area and fully-equipped kitchen, all opening to the front and rear terraces. Wi-Fi internet and UK satellite TV.

The house is situated on the edge of the village of Gabian, a fortified medieval village among the Languedoc vineyards. Gabian has a population of about 700 and is situated at the confluence of two rivers, close to Pézenas and Béziers.

The village features the following: café / bar / restaurant, bakery, grocery store, newsagents, post office, church and pharmacy.

15 minutes from the town of Pézenas.

10 minutes from Magalas with train station.

5 minutes from the village of Roujan.

• Bookings run from Saturday 4:00pm to Saturday 10:00am.
• Neither Pure France nor the property owner are liable for any loss or interruption of internet service.

"My husband and I spent a very enjoyable month in Villa Counil, in Gabian, in June 2011. The house is beautiful, with every comfort and convenience. There is a good boulangerie in the village 10 minutes walk away, and Roujan - 5 minutes drive - has a great traiteur (butcher + pre-prepared take-away meals), a general grocery and a terrific small family-run restaurant. Another 15 minutes drive & there are many towns and villages offering good restaurants & cafes - Pezenas & Magalas and others. The caretakers at Villa Counil (Alison & Ken) were wonderful, fixing anything that needed fixing with charm and humor. I hate to say this, but one of the great enjoyments of the area is the comparative lack of tourists - being two of them ourselves... My husband saw some otters in the nearby river. We loved our holiday in Gabian, and can recommend Villa Counil to anyone who needs a quiet time away from the rat-race."
