Introduction
Secluded but not isolated, Chantepierre, or ‘singing stones’ in English, is a traditional longére, or longhouse, in the style typical of this region which has been tastefully furnished and well maintained to retain its original character whilst being furnished and equipped with all the modern comforts essential to a good holiday. Surrounded by an acre of gardens, with a private pool, it has everything for a perfect holiday.
The main house has a very large open plan sitting room with a fireplace, with dining area, a well equipped kitchen with a wood burning stove, The main house also offers two bathrooms, an en suite shower room, two bedrooms and a galleried mezzanine with a sofa bed. There is a utility room and a children’s games room.
A separate guest suite, accessed from the sitting room, has a large twin room with sitting area, shower room, WC and a first floor private, mezzanine double bedroom.
Only a kilometre from the nearest bar and shop in the little village of Meigne le Vicomte and 7km from the busy market town of Noyant, Chantepierre is well placed for visiting the Loire Valley, famous for its superb châteaux and vineyards. A nearby lake provides water activities for the more energetic although you’ll probably find that Chantepierre has everything you need for a most relaxing holiday.

Note - The climbing apparatus in the garden is not suitable for young children as it has some sharp pieces on it. The owner advises that, if it is used at all, it should be under parental supervision and children should be made aware of the hazards

Local Information
The house is situated in its own ground beside a country lane, 1km from the village of Meigné le Vicomte and 7km from the bustling market town of Noyant, about 40km north of the river Loire and Saumur.
Nearest shop and bar, 1km. Other shops and supermarkets at Noyant, 7kms. The historic city of Saumur, on the banks of the Loire is a 40 minute drive away.
There is a lake near the property which offers water sports.
Airports at Tours, 40 minutes (flights from Stansted) and Paris (Charles de Gaulle), 3 hours. Calais, 5 hours.
There is plenty to do at Chantepierre without leaving the grounds but, if you should be feeling a little restless there are many possibilities for amusements.
The landscape of the Loire Valley, known as ‘The Garden of France’ is rich and varied, with rivers forests and lakes and this is ideal country for walking, cycling and fishing. The nearby forest is a haven for wildlife and can be easily explored.
The area is famous for its beautiful chateaux, many of which can be visited, and its vineyards, where you can sample some of the finest wines in France, (although you should not taste unless you intend to buy, even if it’s only a bottle or two).
The Loire Valley is also known for its fine restaurants and there are many good ones to choose from in the area.
If cities and sightseeing are more in your line then Paris is only two hours by fast train (TGV), or 3 hours by car, while the charming and historic city of Tours is only about 40 minutes away. Angers, the regional capital is less than two hours away and Le Mans just over an hour.
