20 March 2011 - Once a fishing village, Collioure became home to numerous artists, Matisse being perhaps the best known. It abounds with artist's studios along with numerous restaurants and cafés.

20 March 2011 at dawn - Fort Royal was built by the Spaniards to keep the French at bay. The 1659 Treaty of the Pyrenees moved the border, placing Collioure in France and the spaniards on the wrong side of the walls. It's open to visitors all year round.
