Map & local information

The property is situated in open countryside 5 min from Chalon-sur-Saone in southern Burgundy. All amenities including supermarkets, restaurants and café bars in Chalon and nearby surrounding villages.

Museum of Photography – Chalon-sur-Saône (5 km);
It is at Chalon-sur-Saône that Nicéphore Niepce, inventor of photography, was born. Chalon has dedicated a museum to him and the art he invented. In a beautiful house along the banks of the Saône, a comprehensive collection of cameras is displayed. Throughout the visit, discover the different photographic techniques used to reproduce reality on paper. There are some wonderful temporary photographic exhibitions held here.

Hospices de Beaune – Beaune (37 km)
Famous for their auction of wines each year in November, the Hospices de Beaune is, with its marvellous varnished coloured tile roof, one of the most famous sites to visit in Burgundy. Apart from it’s own history which is fascinating, the Hospices de Beaune also houses some very fine paintings with amongst others ‘The last Jugement’ by Roger van der Weyden, the leader of religious painting in the 15th century.

Château de Couches – Couches (32 km)
Clinging to its rock, the Château de Couches soars up amidst the green and rolling landscape of the vineyards of the ‘Côte Chalonnaise’. Access is by a drawbridge that stands as witness to the defensive role that the château had in by-gone days. Today it is possible to visit the chapel, the prison and the square dungeon that goes back to the 12th century.

Château de Cormatin – Cormatin (42 km)
Built in the 17th century on the remains of a 13th century castle, the Château de Cormatin is without a doubt one of the most elegant châteaux in Burgundy. Its truly beautiful gardens, which include a maze, were highly appreciated notably by François Mitterand and Alphonse de Lamartine. In the summer the château holds a festival in its theatre called ‘Rendez-vous de Cormatin’.

The Hérisson Falls – Jura (90 km)
Two streams join to make a series of waterfalls, each one more beautiful than the last. 31 falls, some over 60m high, go to make up the ‘Cascades du Hérisson’. A waymarked footpath of 3.7 km allows you to see them all.

Cluny Abbey – Cluny (56 km)
On the eve of the second millenium Burgundy was a region of high spiritual importance due to Cluny Abbey. This Benedictine abbey, built in the 10th century, was the centre of the religious world and the church was no less than the largest in the Christian world ! Destroyed during the Revolution, the abbey lives today only through its impressive remains and an archeological museum that allows visitors to imagine what it was like in its glorious past.

Chalon dans la Rue – Chalon-sur-Saône (5 km)
Each year, during the 3rd weekend in July (from the Thursday evening until Sunday evening), the streets of Chalon-sur-Saône are transformed into the stage of a multitude of live performances (jugglers, plays, concerts, acrobats, circus acts etc) during the biggest festival of street theatre in France.

Fun Park des Combes – le Creusot (45 km)
Laid out around a disused railway line, the Parc des Combes offers visitors a whole range of activities in a natural setting covering 70 hectares. According to your taste and whim, whether you prefer a spine chillling ride on the big dipper or if you prefer the relaxing roll of an old steam engine , this Park has something for everyone : a summer toboggan run, an aerial runway, a steam train, fairground rides etc.

Green Way – Chalon-sur-Saône (4 km)
From Chalon-sur-Saône to Charnay-les-Macon tens of kilometres of old railway track have been converted into a cycle track. Surrounded by rolling landscapes, alternating between vineyards and forest, this flat (or almost !) Green Way, lends itself perfectly to cycling or rollerblading or simply walking ! The track goes through several attractive villages and you can also admire sites such as Cluny and Cormatin from it.

Acrogivry – Givry (15 km)
At Givry, 6 hectares of oak trees are reserved for adventure in the tree tops ! More than 18 circuits and 150 aerial games have been created for visitors from young children to really tough adventurers ! Those who like a thrill won’t be disappointed by the 250m aerial runway !!
