Many movies about the Crusaders and medieval knights were filmed there, including the movie Robin Hood staring Kevin Costner. Restaurants and shops selling local goods fill the ancient Cité.

Bookings run from 4:00pm on your day of arrival to 10:00am on your day of departure.
No smoking in the property.
Bookings include electricity, water, linen and towels (not beach / pool towels).
Pool heated mid May to end of September.
The pool is protected with an electric safety cover (not a fence as pictured).

Tourist Tax
Where applicable, Pure France is required to collect and remit local government tourism taxes on behalf of our property owners. These taxes are calculated and collected from guests at the time of booking. Pure France then remits collected taxes to the applicable tax authority on the property owners' behalf.

Location

The property is located in the small village of Ventenac-Cabardès, amongst lovely countryside, close to the famous Canal du Midi and Carcassonne (10 km). The village has a grocery shop (approximately 50 metres from the property).

Nearby Pennautier (4 km) with magnificent château and restaurant, bakery and supermarket.

Carcassonne, the capital of the Aude region, has the largest walled medieval fortress and city in Europe and is a major tourist destination in the summer. Many movies about the Crusaders and medieval knights were filmed there, including the movie Robin Hood staring Kevin Costner. Restaurants and shops selling local goods fill the ancient Cité and on Bastille Day, July 14, the fireworks are the most spectacular in all of France.

Beautiful countryside for walking or hiking. Canal du Midi with its shady tree-lined tow-path ideal for cycling and long waterside lunches at local auberges and restaurants. Many historic sites to see including the famous Cathar trail.

This has been our first villa holiday and you have certainly spoilt us for the future! We don't know how Maison Albarels could be bettered. You have done a fantastic job in converting your old family home into such a lovely villa.
Many thanks for your hospitality, especially your wine and juice on arrival and your lovely cherries - and also for trying to sort out the TV for us to watch the World Cup in English... Even if England were rubbish!
We loved Carcassonne - we went once by car and once by walking along the Canal du Midi at Pezens. Also Château Pennaultier - a mini Versailles - was impressive and helpful staff in the restaurant / shop. Special mention to the lovely lady in the shop next door, always smiling and helpful even if our French was a bit limited!

We would recommend eating at L'Ambrosia in Pezens, La Bergerie at Aragon and the restaurant at Le Château de Pennautier (quite local). Narbonne was a pleasant surprise (including its plage) for a day trip.
