Introduction

Superbly placed amongst beautiful countryside, Saint-Rémy is the perfect example of a traditional, unspoilt Provençal town full of winding streets, pavement cafés, cultural events, historic sites and a fair share of the world's famous film stars.

From the colourful town centre with all shops and array of restaurants, its a 2 minutes drive or pretty, 15 minutes walk to the villa.

A lovely stroll for the morning bread or an evening meal.

Alternatively, just a 5 minutes walk away is a great 'buvette' restaurant, ideal for lunches and alfresco dinners.

The villa sits down a small track; a long private drive leads down to the property. 1,500 m² of private grounds including olive and fruit trees and many Mediterranean plants and flowers.

Centre piece is the 10m x 4m pool with sun terrace and loungers - all South-facing.

Overlooking the pool is a charming, shaded dining terrace with table and chairs.

Spacious interior with open-plan living / dining room with Wi-Fi internet throughout. UK TV channels.

Separate breakfast room opens to the front terrace.

Fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher etc.

3 bedrooms to sleep 5. Two WC's and family bathroom.

Superb base from which to discover an almost endless list of nearby sites; Saint-Rémy itself, Arles (and the Van Gogh trail), Avignon, Nîmes, Les Baux, Aigues-Mortes, the Camargue national park and the Mediterranean coast at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer with its fantastic town and beaches.

Location

The property is located 2 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk from the centre of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, one of the best conserved Roman towns in France.

Saint-Rémy is 20 minutes South of Avignon and 30 minutes East of Nîmes.

The town has all amenities in abundance. All shops and in particular, a huge choice of traditional restaurants and pavement cafés and bars. Magnificent tree-lined boulevards and winding streets make this one of the prettiest and most sought-after towns in Provence.

Unmissable street market every Wednesday.

The countryside surrounding Saint-Rémy is quite beautiful and typically Provençal; garrigues full of wild herbs and olive trees.

One of France's premier tourist attractions, Les Baux lies just 10 minutes away; an 11th century village built into the rocks.

The Roman town of Arles is also only a 10 minutes drive. Many Roman and Romanesque monuments are still in use today; the amphitheatre provides the setting for bullfights and concerts and what remains of the theatre plays host to formal concerts and traditional folk festivities throughout the year. The Cathédrale Saint-Trophime, with its magnificent doorway depicting the Last Judgement carved in stone and its beautiful cloisters, is open to the public for visits and Sunday services.

The necropolis, or Alyscamps, is today a narrow, tree-lined avenue, located just outside the old town.

Many lovely restaurants and pavement cafés. Van Gogh spent two years of his life here, so there are many related tours and souvenirs to be found.

Arles also boasts one of the regions finest markets every Wednesday and Friday. Overflowing with Provençal goodies - fruits and vegetables, lavender products, soaps, olives, flowers, honey... The list is endless and makes the Arles market an event not to be missed!

Also not to be missed is a day out to Avignon to discover the winding streets and lovely Provençal shops. Here you'll find the wonderful 'Pope's Palace' - the former home of the Pope which really is spectacular. And the infamous 'half-bridge'!

Spectacular, fortified town of Aigues-Mortes 40 minutes.

Just over 1 hour to the Mediterranean coast (lovely beaches and town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer).

For wine lovers, this is paradise; domaines and tasting almost on every corner.

The lovely Camargue National Park lies close by. You really will see black bulls, pink flamingos and white horses. Many horse and pony-trekking ranches and great choice of Mediterranean beaches.

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sara and Geoff - UK
I just wanted to say thank you – we had a wonderful time staying a le Mas de Pitou – it was by far the most perfect place we have stayed in France in over 10 years! The location and setting were ideal, we had some lovely walks straight from the door and the special touch of your fantastic welcome basket of fruit and vegetables was gorgeous!
We will be back and will certainly recommend to friends.
Carole also was great – friendly, informative and helpful.

Just a quick note to say many thanks for arranging our excellent Villa stay and also to make a special mention of how well we were looked after by Carole who was brilliant!
Hoping to book again with you next year!

Loulou - Los Angeles
The house is easy, open and welcoming. Details are lovely. The garden is natural and flowery. The pool is a wonderful addition even in the early season. We enjoyed the town and its wild surroundings. The food, the wine, the beauty of the land as well as the warm welcome we received made it the best vacation ever.

A week at the Mas de Pitou was blissful. The house was comfortable and included everything you would need for a relaxing stay. The view of the Alpilles, bright sunshine throughout the house and the fragrance of lavender and rosemary from the garden completed the picture. I will most definitely return to enjoy more exploring of the regions bounty in farmer's markets, Médiéval villages and stunning views.

I can't recommend this home highly enough. the kids loved playing in the pool after a day of sight-seeing. We were relaxed from the first moment. You will be so happy you stayed here!

We were traveling with our 3 children. The house is even more beautiful than the photos. We ate all meals when we were home outside on the terrace. The pool was fantastic. The wonderful windows open to the perfect temperature outside. It was an immediate sense of relaxation. You can walk to town, the Roman Ruins, lake and the asylum where Van Gogh stayed. Town is charming and chock full of things to do. Wednesday market throughout town was a blast for all of us. Great restaurants, 2 artisan chocolate makers!

Truppi family
Wonderful two weeks stay. So peaceful at Mas de Pitou and so much nearby that we never had need to travel beyond where we could reach by foot or bike. The house manager Carole couldn't have been more helpful.

Woolf family
Highly recommended for those who want to experience the beauty of Provence.

Freddie - Colorado, USA
This is a wonderfully quiet place to spend time in provence. Located within walking distance from the many attractions of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence its restaurants and its old town, it is a beautifully appointed home with an inviting swimming pool and check out the new pool shower - delightful. Within easy driving distance are a variety of wineries for your tasting pleasure.

Khalil - Los Angeles, USA
I found peace in both the house and the surrounding area. The house itself felt like home. And the town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just a short walk / bike ride away was charming and welcoming, to say the least. Located centrally, I found that the entire South of France was accessible, though I never wanted to leave lovely Mas de Pitou. I only wish I could have stayed longer.
