The villa is located within the residential grounds of the exclusive Pont-Royal Golf and Leisure estate, 30 minutes from Aix-en-Provence and Avignon.

Marseille Provence airport, just 30 minutes drive away, is served by BA, Air France, Easy Jet and Ryanair.
Avignon airport receives flights from London City, Birmingham and Southampton whilst Montpellier and Nimes airports are served by Ryanair.

A direct Eurostar route from London or Ashford to Avignon operates up to 5 times a week during summer months.

Resort Village facilities:

The nearby holiday village has a number of facilities and activities that can be booked through the resort reception featuring an Aqua Park with a Wild Water Run, boat hire, tennis, an equestrian centre, children's clubs and much more.
The renowned 18-hole course was designed by Seve Ballesteros. There’s also an additional compact 6-hole course, multi-tiered driving range and David Leadbetter Academy.

The prestigious Chateaux and Hotels Collection Hotel has a superb gourmet restaurant and a L’Occitane Spa which is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00 and welcomes our guests.

There is a popular restaurant that serves excellent pizzas and Provençal specialities as well as a wine bar and cafe. The village also has a grocery store selling fresh bread and croissants and newsagent.

Local Markets
:

A local market comes to the village square twice a week in high summer with its many stalls selling everything from Provençal produce, to leather goods and local art.
Further afield, there are markets offering Provençal produce to be found in Lourmarin, Salon, Cavaillon, Apt and Aix-en-Provence. Every sunday morning you can wander through the world renowned antiques shops and market in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue followed by lunch at one of the many waterside restaurants.

Local Attractions:

Pont-Royal is well located for visiting many of Provence's historic towns and cities, as well as the stunningly beautiful countryside.

The Luberon
:

The picturesque village of Lourmarin, is a 20 minute drive from Pont-Royal, with more than 22 restaurants, numerous art galleries, and a renaissance chateau, it is an essential visit. Famous residents have included Albert Camus and it is currently home to Peter Mayle, author of ‘A Year in Provence’ and other novels that have characterised Provençal life. Take a short drive and experience quintessential provence in the picturesque hilltop villages of Gordes, Bonnieux and Menerbes.

Midway between Pont-Royal and Lourmarin is Abbaye de Silvacane, one of the three former Cistercian abbeys known as the ‘three sisters of Provence’, it is an outstanding example of 12th century Cistercian architecture.

Aix-en-Provence
:

A beautiful city located approximately half an hours drive South of Pont-Royal and well worth a trip. Originally a spa town founded by the Romans, today it is a labyrinth of tiny alleyways and squares and is known as the 'City of a Thousand Fountains'. This is provincial France at its best. Home to Cezanne in the late 1800s, the city and the surrounding areas was the inspiration for many of his paintings. His workshop, which is preserved exactly how it was left at the time of his death in 1906, is one of many items of interest that any visitor to the city should take in.

In the evenings, Aix really comes alive. An overwhelming selection of cafes and restaurants in and around the Cours Mirabeau offer plenty of opportunity to savour Provençal cuisine and watch the world go by.

Saturday is the main market day. It is widely recognised as being one of the biggest and the best market in the region and is an occasion not to be missed. Most evenings during July and August, a market also stretches the length of the Cours Mirabeau.

Avignon
;

One of the most historic cities in Europe, Avignon is famous for being home to the Pope's court after its exile from Rome in the early 14th century. As a result, the city is rich in architecture and history. The focal point is the incredible Papal Palace which resembles a citadel rising from living rock from the outside. You can also take a stroll along the surviving span of the Pont Saint-Bénézet, perhaps better known as the Pont d'Avignon.

Marseille:

The bustling, cosmopolitan city of Marseille provides something for everyone. The area around the Vieux Port is the centre of most things and is, more or less, the ancient harbour basin that the ancient Greeks sailed into when they first came to France all those centuries ago. These days it provides haven for the local fishing fleet and the yachts of the wealthy, along with an abundance of harbour side cafés and restaurants where you can sit, sipping coffee or something stronger and watch the world go by. Behind the harbour frontage you will find a criss-cross of busy streets that contain some wonderful shopping opportunities, Marseille's theatre land and any number of interesting historic buildings. At night, Marseille offers something for everyone too. Theatre, opera and classical concerts, as well as live music venues catering to every taste.

Cassis and The Calanques:

Cassis is a beautiful old fishing village that bustles with activity and is regarded by some as better than Saint-Tropez. Numerous restaurants line the picturesque harbour. Excellent beaches and swimming in the deep blue waters make this the best seaside destination from Pont-Royal.
The Calanques stretch for 20km from Cassis to marseille, considered to be the fjords of the Mediterranean, these stunning limestone inlets can be visited by boat from either Cassis or Marseille.

Arles and The Carmargue
:

Arles is known as the 'Pearl of Provence' and is renowned for its Roman heritage. The well preserved Roman arena is well worth a visit and is still used today. Arles was also the home of Van Gogh for a couple of years during which time he was at his most prolific, producing over 200 paintings and 100 drawings that were inspired by the Provençal countryside, including one of his most famous works, Sunflowers.

South of Arles lies the delta region of the river Rhône that is known as the Carmargue. Famous for its horses and designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, the area is a haven for wildlife. Apart from the famous breed of white horse and the Carmargue bulls, you will also be able to see flocks of flamingos, various breeds of hawk, herons and many other varieties of birdlife.

If you are looking for a day on the beach, the resort of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is located approximately 35 km South of Arles. With miles of beaches, boat trips on the Mediterranean and plenty of other water sports to take part in, as well as a huge variety of restaurants and beachside bars, Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer makes for a good day out.

A stunning property.

A wonderful break in a five star 'hotel'. Everything provided - thank you. The sun shone, the rosé sofas were put to good use and the pool a refreshing wake up. Wonderful - we would love to return.

Lovely spacious house that has felt more like staying at a private hotel due to the quality of furnishings. House, pool and garden all enjoyed very much by all our kids and by us for rosé sunsets and star gazing. Hope to be back soon!

Chris, Jenny & Penny - Hong Kong

Fabulous house, so well equipped, amazing weather, overall very sad to leave! Highly recommend visits to Aix, Avignon, Lourmarin, Cassis as well as the pools & slides of Pont Royal. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday. With any luck we shall return…
