Location

The property is set in 5 acres of rolling meadows and woodlands, 2 minutes drive from Saint-Martial-de-Nabirat, 10 minutes drive from Domme and 20 minutes from Sarlat-la-Canéda.

Saint-Martial has bakery, café bar, restaurant and small grocery shop.

Further amenities in Domme. All supermarkets, shops, café bar / restaurants / market etc in Sarlat-la-Canéda.

Local swimming lake at Grolejac, 6 km.

Sarlat-la-Canéda is a beautifully picturesque town in the heart of the Dordogne; a charming and busy traditional town with all amenities which is the capital of Périgord. Many good restaurants and cafés to discover. Excellent market on Saturday.

Lots of Golf courses nearby. Nearest is Montfort about 15 minutes.

Hot air ballooning, various local companies. Micro-lite air craft, and light aircraft flights available from Domme Sarlat-la-Canéda Airport.

Paintball, very good site near La Roque-Gageac. La Roque-Gageac (approx 25 minutes) is a stunningly beautiful village under the towering cliffs. The village regularly wins France's 'Prettiest Village' competition. Good canoeing centre here.

Competing with La Roque-Gageac in the prettiness stakes is the village of Carennac. Elevated just above the South bank of the river, it is best known for its typical Quercy architecture and Romanesque priory. Further Romanesque art at the Saint-Pierre church in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne.

Perhaps the most famous of the Dordogne tourist attractions are the cave paintings around Les Eyzies. There are more pre-historic caves in this area than you could ever visit in a day! Les Eyzies lies at the heart of an unspoilt area of great natural beauty with rolling hills, tranquil rivers and fascinating cliff and rock formations. It has some of the world's most beautiful caves with outstanding stalactite and stalagmite crystallizations. And the cave-lined Vézère valley has been classified as a heritage site by UNESCO. The most well-known of all is the cave at Lascaux which was discovered in 1940. The paintings date back some 17,000 years.

John and Irene (September 2019)
Our third visit to the Dordogne but first for some years.
We had a very pleasant stay in this beautiful corner of France.
The weather was sunny and warm (but pretty cold at night!). The house was perfect in a lovely quiet spot away from it all. We stayed home most of the time - the furtherst we ventured to was Sarlat on Market day (Wed) which was very busy but well worth the visit! We bought bread and croissants from the Patisserie in St Martial everyday (except Monday - closed) and ate lunch out everyday. A perfect way to unwind after a busy year!

Fletcher family
We have had an amazing week - the pool is perfect and the children spent many happy hours splashing, "cannonballing", having lilo-wars and doing prety much everything but swimming!
We use Pure France every year - this has been our favourite. Your home is so carefully thought-through and was, for our family, perfect. We loved Sarlat (ate at the Regent on the square - excellent!) and Lascaux - we also loved coming back everyday to this lovely home. Thanks for the warm welcome - I suspect we will be back!!

Mowforth Family - UK
What a wonderful week in your beautiful home!
We have spent many a holiday in a French gîte and this one was our favourite!
Domme is beautiful and we enjoyed la forêt des singes as well as a superb day on the Dordogne canoeing from Vitrac to Beynac.
The days chilling by the pool were our favourite - such a brilliant place with a lot of peace and quiet. We will be back! One week was not long enough. Thank you!

Woodhouse family
Thank you for a wonderful holiday! We loved the pool and the local wildlife especially : deer, red squirrels, rabbits and a woodpecker we could hear but we never quite managed to catch sight of.
Thank you for such a warm welcome - your thoughtfulness very much appreciated!

Many thanks Mike and Cherie for a wonderful two weeks in your lovely home. We couldn't have asked for more - the weather, the welcome, the house, the setting, all just perfect. Hope to see you again.

Brian and Sue
Excellent week. Sunshine everyday. Almost too hot but the pool was great.
Beautiful area, especially the upper Dordogne, towards Beaulieu and Argentat.
Will definitely visit this area again.

Phil/Tina and Toby - UK
We've had a lovely stay at the villa. Very peaceful, good weather, very enjoyable. There are so many nice places to visit, Sarlat is always a favourite destination - apart from the crowds! Gouffre de Padirac is worth visiting - if only there was a straight road to it! Thank you for sharing your lovely villa, Mike and Cherie.

What a lovely house and property you have here! The kids and us have enjoyed the big garden and pool, and we've visited a couple of places really worth seeing ; Josephine Baker's home, le Château des Milandes, the lovely village Périgueux by the Dordogne river, the beautiful and pittoresque Sarlat...
Always a pleasure to discover new places in Dordogne!
thanks Mike and Cherie for giving us the opportunity!

Ian, Josie, Sara, Anthony, Rose and Don (Kent, UK)
We've had a lovely 2 weeks in St Aubin de Nabirat. Rocamadour is a lovely town - would definitely recommend. Don walked there! Excellent views from Domme. The best meal we had was in Degagnac, 10 km away in Sans Frontière - great chef! Sarlat is very busy biut has some interesting lanes - well worth a visit. Did venture further and met friends in Lalinde - where we have been before. Canoed down the river from Cenac to Beynac - took 3 hours. Played tennis in Salviac. Been on lots of walks around the village and Anthony has cycled. All in - a great time. Love this part of France.
Thank you Cherie and Mike

We've had a lovely time over the two weeks in the Dordogne. The weather wasmostly good and the stars here were amazing. The pool was definitely needed and refreshing in the 40°C heat and we enjoyed sitting and watching the wildlife, including the sparrows which would hop under your feet. Would recommend the grottes de Cougnac, ice creams and the views from Domme, L'Abbaye restaurant - the owners are very friendly!
Thanks to the owners for a lovely villa!

Debbie and Nigel, (Kent, UK)
We both had the most enjoyable time here, weather, pool, activities all fantastic, canoeing a must, many thanks again to the owners, 'Great Couple'. Hope to see you again

We've had the most incredible week in the Dordogne. By far our most favourite part of France. Absolutely beautiful! We've thoroughly enjoyed the fabulous pool. Thank you for your warmth and hospitality. We appreciate all the little details like the welcome pack, the lovely cot and highchair. We had such a comfortable stay in your beautiful home.Felt like our home away from home. We will be back. A week was too short.

McGrath family - Ireland
A wonderful, peaceful spot for a family holiday. We were with 3 childrean, a 12 yr old, two 16 yr olds, all boys. The house is perfectly appointed for a family with all necessities available. The pool was the focus of our holiday at the house and is an ideal size and very safe for young families. It was our first experience of the area and the local towns are very interesting historically and culturally. The street performances in the evening at Sarlat and the square in Domme were particularly entertaining. This was our third time in France and the best experience of the 3. Highly recommended.

We've had a superb week in this lovely, inviting home from home. There are so many places to visit but can recommend Monpazier, Cingle de Montford and Les Eyzies. Monpazier is a delightful Médiéval bastide - cocktails and ice creams in the little square are a must. Many thanks to Mike and Cherie - we'll be returning but when all the tourists have gone!

Haplin family, UK
We have had a really enjoyable 2 weeks here in St Aubin. Loved canoeing on the Dordogne Also good was the Chateau du Reignac. Great pool!

Taggart family, Scotland
We've had a wonderful time relaxing in this idyllic spot. The house is lovely and has fitted all of our needs. We particularly enjoyed the pool area. St Aubin is a very peaceful area and we have seen lots of wildlife. We would highly recommend a trip to Sarlat, it is very historic and there are lots of restaurants around the main square. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Thompson family - Shropshire, UK
We had a lovely holiday here at Maison Saint Aubin - very peaceful setting, with great wildlife. Our boys (8 and 5) loved it. The house and pool are gorgeous and Mike and Cherie were very friendly and hospitable. Visited the Grottes de Congnal (very good), went canoeing (2 hours - which was great but enough for grandpa!). The lake at Grolée is good for kids. Castlenaud is beautiful and the pretty towns of Beynac definitely worth a visit. The aquarium in Le Bugue is great if wet weather. Enjoy! Thanks.

Beasley family - Somerset, UK
Wonderful stay; in a lovely house. Lots to do in the area. Cycling (great safe trail near Gagnan). Night markets, canoeing, amazing ice-cream in Sarlat and delicious pizza in Domme. Our boys loved all the space and had a blast in the pool. Thanks for a wonderful holiday - See you again

We had a lovely stay here over the last two weeks. Chilled by the pool and ate in Gordon, Sarlat and Domme. I would recommend Sarlat for an evening meal. The atmosphere was great. Pool at a constant 25°c which was very refreshing. Thank to Mike and Cherie for lending us their home.
