The house is great. It had everything we needed and has a lovely, secluded and peaceful garden. Helen was so welcoming and was a mine of essential local information. Thank-you!

LP B.
We have enjoyed our 1 week stay at the house. Lots of space, a beautiful garden and a lovely host (Helen). The area has much to offer. We were short of time to enjoy it all !

John W.
We had such a wonderful time in Helen's beautiful home (and charming village). Perfect for our two families. Lots of personal touches. Clearly this is a labour of love for Helen. She was so helpful with suggestions of where to go and what to do. We explored the region, swam, ate, drank and relaxed. Thanks Helen.

Annemette L.
We (2 adults, two teenagers and a 9 year old) stayed in the house for a week. It was perfect for all of us. Quiet and peacefull village and still a little, very nice café 100 metres away. We spend a lot of time in the garden at the pool and went for some lovely trips in the area. Helen is living near the house. She is very helpful and knows a lot about the region. Eg we went to the waterfalls and went swimming in the Orb river, the Faugère Wine festival and had dinner at La Forge in Bédarieux, which was superb. The house has everything you need and is divided in two apartments with a lot of space for everyone. We will recommend this peaceful place for everybody whether you vacation with small children, teenagers or without children. We will be back :)

Diana M.
This year we wanted get away from it all and have a holiday that allowed us to laze around but also offered the opportunity for a variety of activities. This lovely house, located in a quiet village, was perfect for this (not least because it has very easy parking arrangements). The house is very spacious and well equipped, and provides very flexible accommodation over two floors (bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms provided on both)! It’s ideal for two couples or two family groups, for instance, or just for two people like us who like to spend a lot of time just hanging around the house and enjoying the luxury of so much space! We particularly loved the upstairs terrace where we ate most of our meals and sat lingering over our wine until dark. The walled garden, which affords a very high degree of privacy, is beautifully set out with shrubs and potted plants, and the lovely little pool area has a variety of seating areas catering for both sun- and shade-lovers. A number of lovely towns and places of interest are within relatively easy reach. We loved the walk up the Gorges d’Héric, the lovely canal-scape at le Somail, the spectacular Roman site at Oppidum, and the little town of Capestang. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Faugères, not least because we were made to feel so comfortable by Helen and her husband. Helen could not have been more helpful, providing us with all the information we needed for getting to the gite, how to get to the supermarket, the best markets to visit, places of interest, places for walking, and even helping us communicate with the breakdown mechanic when our car battery needed replacing. A great place to stay!

The gite was very nice and comfortable. We were 7 adults and one child with a lot of space for everyone. The garden and swimming pool was also very nice. Beautiful surroundings with lots of wine yards. We really recommend this gite for a nice holiday.

Brian G.
For those who appreciate getting away from the big city and staying in a fantastic small French village then this will be for you. The house was fantastic for us two couples with virtually two separate apartments but with plenty of space in one to get together! Everything you need is at hand and the host was most helpful without being intrusive. We had a great mix of sightseeing, local walks and relaxing in the beautiful garden next to and in the pool.

Lesley L.
We were a family of four generations including a baby and had a really lovely time here. The two levels are almost two apartments in one and provided ample room for nine people, making use of the sofa bed. All that we needed for the baby was provided too - with cot and high chair. The house was spotlessly clean and full of character, while the plunge pool, garden and different patio areas provided sun and shade in lovely surroundings throughout the day. The hosts went out of their way to be helpful to us before we even got there and continued to do so when we arrived. You do need a car as there is relatively little within walking distance, but lots to do within easy travel distance - we had some amazing trips out. No air con but fans provided. Would definitely recommend. Enjoy!

Timothy T.
We really felt welcomed and supported by Helen our gite owner who lived near by. The accommodation was top notch. The pool was essential for cooling off in and meals on the balcony were a pleasure. A great base for exploring this part of the Languedoc: we swam in its rivers, drank its wine and relaxed in its sun.

Helen went to a great deal of trouble to research and book a sea fishing trip for my husband and friends. The garden and pool are beautiful, private and sheltered and the dining terrace is a lovely place to eat both breakfast and dinner, we sat out till late watching the swallows. The house is spacious and comfortable and allows both family and friends to have their own space. The area is beautiful and we had some lovely meals out following Helen's list of recommendations. Lots to see and do, we ran out of time. Overall a lovely place to stay.

We had the most amazing time Faugères at Helens gite. Helen couldn't have been more attentive, the best host I've ever experienced - by far!! She couldn't do enough for us and is so lovely. We were blown away by how beautiful the gite was, the garden is perfect for relaxing around the pool with a glass of wine in hand :) and has lots of shady areas to avoid the hotter times of day. If you love wine tasting, this is the perfect region, there are endless vineyards and Vigneron's! We came home with car full of wine!!! For anyone considering booking Helen's gite - BOOK IT!! I can't recommend it highly enough!

Rebecca B.
First impressions - step through the gate and you enter a tranquil garden perfectly created to spend hours relaxing, sitting, swimming or just watching the wildlife. Truly peaceful. Then enter the house which is extensive with plenty rooms, areas to eat and enjoy slowing down. Plenty of equipment in the gite for cooking, as well as washing machine etc. Would highly recommend a visit to Dame Jane as cafe/shop at the end of the road.. The food is restaurant quality. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting France and the owner is extremely lovely and helpful which is an added bonus!

Kate R.
We all had a great time staying here, the house is beautifully clean and well thought out. The courtyard garden and pool are private and provide areas of sunshine and shade all day. Helen is the most friendly and helpful owner and we all enjoyed our holiday very much. I would happily recommend staying here as there is plenty of interest for all ages. We hope to visit again. Thank you.

Karen W.
We arrived following a 2 hour car journey on a very hot July afternoon. We were greeted by Helen's friend who led us through a gate in the wall into an amazing courtyard garden with pool which certainly has the wow factor. The house, which appears quite small from the outside, is spacious and welcoming and has everything you could possibly need for your holiday. We tended to go out in the mornings and return to the house in the afternoon to laze around the pool; the garden is private ,quiet and a suntrap so the shaded areas of the garden were very welcome. The shaded upstairs terrace was where we ate most of our meals including breakfast every morning - there aren't many shops in the village but there is a bar which sells fresh croissants and baguette - don't leave it too late though as they only carry a small amount! There is plenty to do in the area, the coast is only about 40 mins away, Sérignan beach is lovely. We had a great day out kayaking at Roquebrun - remember to take a change of clothes as you will get wet!. A must is Pézenas, where throughout July and August they hold a night fête on a Friday evening, you can sample the local wines and food from market stalls in the main street and you can then explore the town walking through the narrow streets and see the work of local artisans as the shops are open till midnight. A fabulous holiday!

Yaniv N.
We are so happy to come back to Faugères for the sixth time. My parents who fell in love with the house and the region are joining us as usual. Since the house has practically two apartments they bring now their own guests. We missed so much the house and its lush and shaded garden, dinner on the terrace and relaxing in the pool at the end of the day and Lili is thrilled to continue her swimming lessons, Pony riding and visiting the safari at Sigean. Faugères is just the right place for us between mountain and sea. We love to go to the beach but also to lake Vailhan and river swimming at Roquebrun, and canoeing for those who love the thrill. There are so many markets we can recommend, maybe the one in Narbonne or Clermont l'Hérault or Lézignan-Corbières but even smaller ones like Saint-Chinian or Capestang and of course eating moules and crustacé at Marseillan port. We discovered a new museum in Sérignan but lets not forget the museums in Sète or Lodève. We had a chilled rosé waiting for us upon arrival in one of the hotest days this summer. The house has all you need to make a great vacation, in the house and in the surrounding area. Great for two families or for one family with kids that want their privacy. Helen is simply a great host!

This house genuinely makes you feel like you are tucked away in a beautiful oasis in a village that is full of character with very friendly locals and nice, helpful neighbours. We were a party of 4 (although plenty of room for more) and we really managed to relax and forget about the stresses of work and everyday life. The house itself has been renovated with great care and retains almost all of its original features – there are lovely shady areas in the garden where you can sit and relax or sunbathe and the pool was fantastic to cool off in on the hot sunny days that we enjoyed during our stay. The garden is beautiful with varied and colourful plants all adding to the wonderful character – just off the kitchen there is a shaded terraced area with a large dining table for al fresco lunches and dinners – perfect! Everything you need is in the house and a short stroll away there is an “Epicerie” where they sell the basics and serve great coffee – up the hill is a bar/restaurant which is great for an evening meal or just a few drinks. Plenty of larger shops are just a short drive away in the small town of Bedarieux. Lots to do in the area - the medieval town of Pezenas is very close and if you like the beach there are also some lovely ones that you can reach in less than 1 hour’s drive. The scenery is very picturesque and there are beautiful villages to explore. Helen and Nick, the owners of this delightful property, could not have been more helpful and booking, directions and all other logistics were undertaken seamlessly – we had a real feeling of being taken care of and wished we had had the opportunity to meet them. In short – this is a wonderful house in a beautiful setting – the moment you walk into the gate you feel a sense of calm. Would highly recommend this property and will definitely return myself.

Lauren S.
We could not have asked for any more from our perfect holiday here. There was something for everyone to enjoy ranging from beautiful countryside, historic villages and chateaux, stunning gorges and rock pooling, beautiful Med beaches and the nearby town of Pézenas, We loved staying in the quaint historic village of Faugères and the gite was well equipped, comfortable, clean and very homely. It was a very tranquil and peaceful place to relax. Helen and her husband were amazing hosts and had made sure that we had everything we could possibly need. The local information that they had provided was excellent and we used this to plan our days out. Our 4 year old son loved playing by the pool and the terrace was a lovely place to eat a meal and sit and enjoy a glass of wine (or two) under the stars. We would highly recommend and would love to return again in the future. Thank you.

David O.
Having first stayed at this delightful property almost ten years ago, my family and I have returned many times since. Located in a classic medieval French village amidst the vineyards, the house and grounds are well designed and comfortable for up to eight people, and set amidst a lovely courtyard garden, the pool is most welcome on a hot summer’s day. The property was in line with the description, and has definitely been upgraded since we first started staying there. We found that Faugeres, set in the foothills of the Cevennes mountains, is close enough to the coast to enjoy the beach easily, but just far enough away to feel pleasantly removed from the crowds. There are plenty of strenuous hikes and great scenery if one wants to head inland rather than towards the Mediterranean, as well as kayaking for the more adventurous. All in all, we would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a taste of everything that the Languedoc region has to offer. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Adventure Seekers, Families with Teenagers.
