Pure France loves the films of Maïwenn, her latest film is DNA.

Maïwenn - French actress and director

She directed her first feature-length film at the age of 30, Pardonnez-moi. Further directorial credits include Le Bal des Actrices, Polisse, Mon Roi.

DNA was released in October 2020 during the lockdown when cinemas were closed. We can't wait to see it.

Le Bal des Actrices (2007)

5 stars from Pure France.

The film is a comedy drama musical about an actress-director married to Joey Starr who is making a documentary about actresses, their daily lives, their torments, their way of life and understanding of their profession. The documentary deals with different categories of actresses, from struggling actress to superstar actresses. Cast includes Mélanie Doutey, Julie Depardieu, Charlotte Rampling, Karine Viard, Romane Bohringer et Muriel Robin. A light and humorous film.

Polisse (2011)

Polisse - Maiween

Our favorite Maiïwenn film. A film produced as a documentary on the daily life of the Brigade for the Protection of Minors in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. A deeply emotional film.

The film is true, not overdone, not stereotypical. We totally forget that this is a movie, with excellent performances. Stand-out is Joey Starr, but also Karine Viard, Marina Foïs, Emmanuelle Bercot, Karole Rocher.

You feel completely immersed in the life of the characters. The cases deal with and the impact of work on the lives of police officers and the relationship between them and their colleagues.

The film received the jury prize at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and two Césars in 2012 (best up-coming female and best editing).

Relations between the many members of the family are complicated and resentments are numerous... Fortunately Neige can count on the support and humor of François, her ex. The death of the grandfather will trigger a family storm and a deep identity crisis for Neige. From then on she will want to understand and know her DNA." Can't wait to see it in cinemas.
