A traditional French house with a view on a beautiful medieval village

Article

The village Monflanquin, just south of Bergerac, is a so-called bastide village, founded in the 13th century. After thorough renovations in the nineties, Monflanquin is now one of the most beautiful villages in France (Plus Beaux Village de France) with lovely shops, nice restaurants and beautiful characteristic buildings.

Since 1256, there is a market on the main square, every Thursday morning and in July and August there are evening (food) markets also on Thursday.

Situated on a hill top it overlooks the Tuscany-like landscape with sloping green hills, sunflower fields and plum orchards.

Monflanquin returns to its origins and celebrates the Medieval festivities...

Once a year, always around the 15th of August, Monflanquin returns to its origins and celebrates the Medieval festivities. During two full days, all cars are banned, the inhabitants wear medieval clothes, medieval music is heard in every street, tournaments are being organized, knights on horseback wander through the village, wild boar is roasted on open fires and you can try a medieval drink. Those 'Fêtes Médiévales' are one of the biggest and most famous events in the region.

The house is situated on 10 acres of land with a garden, a pool and several terraces...

Only one and a half mile south of Monflanquin, with a splendid view on the village, you can find Maison des Fleurs. This spacious stone house has been a farm for centuries and is now a holiday house for max 12 guests. The Dutch owners, Rob and Jacqueline, have renovated the place in 2001, creating 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a summer kitchen. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and the owners have combined old details with modern comfort. The house is situated on 10 acres of land with a garden, a pool, several terraces, a jeu-de-boule court, a giant chessboard, a table tennis table and lots of privacy.

The owners personally welcome their guests on arrival...

When the house is rented out in the summer months the owners don't live on site, but they are near by and can help or assist whenever needed. They will personally welcome their guests on arrival.
