An absolute gem of a city on the Rhône river in Provence

Take the time to visit the city of Avignon in Provence and you won't regret it.

The streets of the walled city are mainly pedestrianised, so if you are driving we recommend parking in one of the car parks across the river and walking across the bridge. This also offers fabulous views of the cityscape and is a great photo opportunity.

Do not dream of avoiding the tourist spots such as the Pont d'Avignon or the hugely impressive Palais des Papes, they are well worth the ticket price and you can save money by buying a combination ticket from the tourist information office or one of the sites themselves.

You will be spoilt for choice for restaurants and pavement cafés, with every street and square offering charming surroundings and great local cuisine.

Visit the city of Avignon on your next villa holiday in Provence.
