This summer visit Marseille and discover the Cathédrale La Major (Cathédrale Sainte-Marie-Majeure de Marseille) with its Romanesque-Byzantine style architecture.

Marseille Cathedral was designed by architect Léon Vaudoyer and Henri-Jacques Espérandieu and constructed between 1852 and 1896 in a 'Latin cross' configuration on the original foundations of the 'old Major’ that dates back to the 12th century.

The cathedral features two bell towers, mosaic floors, marble interiors and a dome 70 metres high and 17½ metres in diameter.

The cathedral which is 142 metres in length, can accommodate up to 3,000 people.

Situated in the city of Marseille, in the Panier quarter, the cathedral has views of the harbour, docks and the sea.
