Add the 'Garden of France' to your list of places to holiday in France

Known as the garden of France, the countryside of the Loire region is dotted with historic towns and villages and most famously its chateaux, each with a unique style and charm.

Writers and painters throughout history have been inspired by the castles of the Loire. Be sure to visit one of the most famous, Château d'Ussé, which was the inspiration for Charles Perrault's folk tale of Sleeping Beauty.

The Loire Valley is home to the longest river in France and the entire valley is UNESCO listed. The UNESCO criteria for listing the Loire Valley is as follows:-

"Criterion (i): The Loire Valley is noteworthy for the quality of its architectural heritage, in its historic towns such as Blois, Chinon, Orléans, Saumur, and Tours, but in particular in its world-famous castles, such as the Château de Chambord."

You can book a self-catering holiday in your very own Loire château, such as Château Monjardin ref. 86004, pictured above.
