Mas de Buou in the southern Luberon

Mas de Buou in the southern Luberon

Mas de Buou is located in the village of Puyvert, in the southern Luberon, Lourmarin is 2 km away. Lauris and Cadenet are also very close by.

It is approximately three quarters of an hour only to Marseille and its airport, from Aix-en-Provence or Avignon and their TGV train stations or even from the sea and a sailing boat…

Only a few minutes to reach the heart of one of the most beautiful villages of France; Lourmarin, Gordes, Ménerbes, Ansouis and their famous markets.

There is a supermarket less than a kilometre away. A tennis court, horse riding centre and a golf course are also close by and yet complete calm surrounds the property.

It is accessed via a cypress and oak tree-lined private lane, followed by a lime tree alley in the vineyards. In the heart of a AOC (PDO) vineyard and on the edge of lawns shaded by centenarian trees, cedar trees, pine tress and oak trees, the Mas, formerly a silkworm farm during the 17th Century, with uninterrupted views on the Luberon hills.

Hidden in the English garden, the stone steps lead from the south courtyard-terrace to the secured pool (7m x 13m), designed as a Provençal pool.

Its ancient cottage, is now used to store the sunloungers and inflatable mattresses.

The house kept its Provençal features: terracotta floors, ancient ceilings and its plaster fireplace.

Access is from the South-facing terrace, the house has been decorated by the owners, antique dealers in Paris.

Antique furniture blends in well with modern, Art deco and contemporary furniture.

In the living room, many English and French books, various discs and movies can be found near the TV.

The dining room opens onto the terrace and the garden. The kitchen, recently renovated, is fully fitted.

An Art nouveau bathroom and separate WC look onto the vineyards.

At the top of the old stairs, the landing leads to the large bedrooms:

- Bedroom with Art-Deco furniture -160cm bed - two south-facing windows

- Bedroom with the very high Provençal ceiling - 160cm bed- which also has a mezzanine - two 90cm beds- and with a French window opening onto garden in the sunrise.

- Bathroom: shower and WC look on to the hills.

Completely independent, the "blue" bedroom is accessed from the exterior stone staircase - 140cm bed-furniture and wallpaper from the 40’s.

At sunset, when silence takes over the cicada song, we leave the shade of the mulberries in the courtyard- south-facing terrace- for the almond tree courtyard to enjoy on the bench and the ancient chairs the last sun rays on the vineyard nearby.

At night, when you can hear the crickets song in the countryside, the swimming pool is highlighted by the many garden lights. By midnight,

the automatic watering system will regenerate the green setting.

Available for rental from April to October.

Gardener and pool man visits included.

Bedlinen and towels included.

Loved every minute. It's difficult to capture the beauty of this home in pictures. Due to the setup of the property, there are so many different vistas - each unique for its own type of enjoyment. Every meal was spent outside on the patio listening to nothing but the birds and the crickets. Around the corner from the patio is a yard overlooking a vineyard which was perfect for boules (one of the games supplied). Further down the path, you find yourself looking past the pool down a corridor lined with lavender and olive trees. What a delight it was to swim in the beautifully maintained pool and watch my boys run around the surrounding yard.

Fantastic house and area. A wonderful house in a great location - we had a week and definitely wished for more! The house is very comfortable inside and out - the pool is great. Easy access to town and nearby store, and in a beautiful part of Provence. Highly recommended!

Idyllic and convenient place, perfect home. In the second week of September, my wife and I stayed at Mas du Buou with another couple and we have a wonderful experience. The property was everything we could have imagined and more. The house and the property have been put together as if in a dream from the pages of a book on Provence. In addition, the property has all the convenience we need to stay including Wi-Fi, a lovely kitchen and two separate bedrooms with large beds (one with an additional left with two more beds). We especially loved the grounds and taking walks around the property in the morning and lounging in different areas in the evening, including the lawns, the field of grapes, the pool surrounded by bursting fig trees and the shaded outdoor patio off the living room. While the property is idyllic and secluded, its convenient to Lourmarin and as a base to explore southern France. The owners were easy to communicate with and the property manager was amazingly friendly and a helpful resource. Everything you would hope for in a week in Provence!

Blissfully private, utterly French. The house is full of antique furnishings, beautiful objects ranging from the elegant to the earthy. There are many real oil paintings and whimsical details. There are also throughful elements like the purple market basket to use while shopping at the French market in Lourmarin just 2 kilometres down the road!
