Château de Chenonceau was built between 1514 and 1522 on the foundations of a mill. Today it's structure spans across the River Cher in the Loire Valley.

Combining Gothic and Renasissance architecture, the château was designed by Philibery de I'Orme. Tourists can visit the château, its chapel and it's library. Today it's the second most visited château in France, beaten in first place by the Palace of Versailles, in Paris.

Since 1840, Château de Chenonceau has been a Monument historique, classified by the French ministry of Culture.
