Dubuffet's Winter Garden at the Center Pompidou

Dubuffet's Winter Garden at the Center Pompidou.

Jean Dubuffet is a French painter born in 1901.

Art does not come to sleep in the beds that have been made for it; he runs away as soon as his name is mentioned: what he likes is being incognito. His best moments are when he forgets his name

Jean Dubuffet

The artist is interested in works produced by prisoners, the mentally ill, children, people outside the professional art world.

In 1945, he invented the term Art Brut to define this art. He will be a theoretician and a collector.

Winter garden: immersion in the work of Dubuffet.

This garden is in fact a closed box, one enters it through a large door, the only source of light.

The interior of this polystyrene design covered in polyurethane gives the impression of a cave. Wide black bands run the walls from floor to ceiling.

Meditative atmosphere in these synthetic stamps.
