Holidays in Cap Ferret

Cap Ferret is a very popular destination for holidays: strolling, relaxing, shopping with family, friends or as a couple. It is the ideal destination for a vacation break.

The peninsula

Lège - le grand Crohot, Claouey - le four, les Jacquets - petit puiquey, l'Herbe, le Canon and many others... discover Cap Ferret and its must-see attractions.

Take a tour of Bird Island

You can discover the famous cabins and houses on stilts. When the tide is high, these are surrounded by water and at low tide they are placed on the sand.

The Cap Ferret lighthouse

You will discover the peninsula seen from above and in panoramic view. The lighthouse is 258 steps, 57 metres high to admire the basin as far as Pyla: with the oyster beds, Bird Island, the passes, the Dune du Pilat and the ocean. The lighthouse dates from 1947, the very first dating from 1840, was destroyed by the Germans deserting the area.

The museum:

Beyond the panoramic view of the entire Basin, you can visit the monument and immerse yourself in the art deco style, as well as the modernized exhibition rooms. Cartography of yesterday and today, navigation on the Basin and history of the Lighthouse. With animated marine charts, interactive screens, and the presentation of the optical mechanism of a lighthouse in 3D.

The tip of the Cape

The tip of Cap Ferret offers a 180° view of the Dune du Pilat, the Banc d'Arguin, the Bassins passes and the Atlantic. A wild landscape, an escape an hour from Bordeaux, like a Caribbean beach with golden sand as far as the eye can see. When the weather is good you can enjoy the beach and let yourself be lulled by the waves breaking on the sand. A paradise for good swimmers.

Cap Ferret is ideal for bike rides

The most motivated can rent a bike to go from south to north while strolling and enjoying the landscapes available to you. They make preserving the environment a priority, which is why you can enjoy 60 km of trails from north to south or from the Basin to the ocean. If you only have one day to visit Cap Ferret, we advise you to rent an electric bike in order to combine practicality and comfort. A very pleasant walk where you can cross the pines, alone in peace.

Grass Village

Located between Canon and the port of La Vigne, the village of L'Herbe is cited as the most beautiful on the peninsula. Its distance from the national road makes it a special place. It is a fishing village par excellence and made up of many small colorful huts which make it a peaceful village. Most of the cabins are inhabited by fishermen or oyster farmers. You can visit them in one of the many restaurant cabins along the water to taste oysters, shrimp and white wine overlooking the water.

Sainte-Marie-du-Cap church

Intact and restored, it accompanied the Algerian Villa of Lesca which was destroyed 50 years ago. It bears witness to the history of Cap Ferret and does not go unnoticed with its red and white colors.

Wonderful break on the Herbe beaches

La Chapelle beach is pleasant for families. When the tide is high you can enjoy a refreshing swim. You will also find a beach in front of the village's oyster huts, ideal for a stroll along the water's edge.

Walk the streets

You stroll through the narrow streets where no two bikes pass each other, to taste the spirit of this village where all the cabins are colorful and lined up.
