Stroll to the Cap Béar lighthouse in Port Vendres

Stroll to the Cap Béar lighthouse in Port Vendres.

The current Cap Béar lighthouse was built in 1905. It reaches 27m and its altitude is 50m.

It emits 3 white flashes every 20 seconds after dark.

The surrounding stones are in pink marble from Aude.

Below you will see the old caretakers' quarters. The lighthouse is automated and no longer needs permanent guarding.

The lighthouse and its surroundings have been classified as a historical monument since 2011.

It is accessible by car or on foot: - On foot from the Clos de Paulilles beach, count a 3-hour walk there and back. - On foot and/or by car from Port Vendres just before Les Tamarins, a small paved road that follows the jetty leads you to the lighthouse.

500 meters from the lighthouse, you can reach the cove of Sainte Catherine with its fishermen's houses by a path. Also, the coastal footpath leads to Bernardi beach along the rocky coast.
