The idyllic Le Presbytère bids you a very warm welcome

Built in manoir-style of the Perigord region, this gracious home offers everything you need for a perfect French vacation and is rich with local history.

It was built along an ancient Roman road and once belonged to the diocese of Monflanquin and in the past the canon used to live here.

The property dates back to the 17th century and the original grounds included both neighboring properties. Today, Le Presbytère sits on two hectares of landscaped grounds that include a romantic courtyard, an outdoor entertaining area, a pool with large pool house, and a well-established grove of fruit trees.

Le Presbytère is the perfect spot for a summer holiday, a Spring or an Autumn break. It sleeps 12 adults in three double and three twin bedrooms. Three cods and three high chairs are also available. It's only less than two hours from Bordeaux airport and 30 minutes from Bergerac airport, both of which enjoy regular flights from the UK and the rest of Western Europe. Moreover, it is located within easy reach of a host of recreational activities, such as golf, tennis, cycling, watersports and horse riding as well as some of France's top vineyards and food markets.

Although the house has been thoroughly and tastefully renovated, it still offers insights into its past with features like the main massive carved timber doorway, the impressive 350 year old fireplace and mantel piece, oak beams and original stone and oak flooring. The large reception, living room and dining room also reflect the important social standing of the original occupants. The decoration is eclectic and features original art works from all over the world.

Le Presbytère offers exceptional comfort and luxury. All six bedrooms and four ensuite bathrooms have been renovated to the highest standards, including new wooden floors and designer fixtures.

The current owners are unabashed 'foodies'. The large kitchen was recently thoroughly renovated with Chalon kitchen furniture, which boasts a Lacanche oven, luxurious appliances and very well equipped for all that is needed to prepare a gourmet feast. Guests that like cooking will love this kitchen as much as the region that is famous for its food markets. Some of the regional specialties are truffles, foie gras, plums, a variety of nuts, goose and duck.

The large (5m x 12m) heated swimming pool, surrounded by comfortable loungers includes a substantial pool house with a big barbecue, a dining area that seats 12, a large lounging area for relaxing, a small kitchen and a WC.

The play area includes table tennis, football, badminton, table football and jeu de boules.

The idea of the present owners is to treat guests like family and to offer a warm welcome in a place to relax and reboot. The beds are extremely comfortable, with top quality mattresses with a selection of pillows. The sheets are Egyptian cotton and the duvets are made of silk. To complete your welcome, an enthusiastic and knowledgable host is ready to help you in any way, from arranging catering, a baby sitter, a massage or simply arranging transportation.

It's easy to imagine the lifestyle of past inhabitants while enjoying the beautiful view of the hills from the swimming pool, or to think about all the history that has passed through the former gated archway entrance to the stone walls that once surrounded the property. If only the walls could talk.

Here are some of our guests comments about their stay at Le Presbytère:

Amazing château! Stunning weather! Five families came together from different places: Canada, Wales, England. We enjoyed ourselves and each other's company. We hope to come again to this lovely place with friendly spirits. The high quality fittings and furnishings say a great deal. Our compliments to the owners. Having stayed in many other rental properties over the years, it makes a real and tangible difference. Amanda is a perfect welcome host too! Sadly leaving. What a truly delightful house this is and how warm and welcoming it has been for our family of 9 travelling from Australia to celebrate two 50th birthdays. Despite the heat we have been comfortable and happy, exploring many towns and locations and enjoying the pool and the house. The kitchen was perfect, all the little extra's very much appriciated and the beds so comfortable. We played football, rode the bikes and went for local walks. Simply one of the best houses we've ever stayed in and one of the best holidays we've ever enjoyed.

A wonderful place for a family holiday. The house is perfectly stocked; really no want for anything. You have thought of it all, extra bits in the kitchen, games, great chairs by the pool. We loved every minute!
