The Japanese Garden of Toulouse: a break from daily life
In the heart of Toulouse you will find a beautiful garden a stone's throw from the city center, located in the Compans Caffarelli district, the Pierre-Baudis Japanese Garden is nestled in the heart of the park of the same name, a former military site redeveloped in the 1980s. Created in 1981 on the initiative of former mayor Pierre Baudis, inspired by the Kyoto gardens, it offers an oasis of calm and balance in the pink city.
Architecture and symbolism: immersion in the traditional style
The garden covers about 0.7 hectares (about 7000 m²), it is a perfect example of the Tsukiyama style, based on the staging of the landscape and the harmony of natural elements (water, stone, vegetation).
We discover:
A pond, a red bridge and an allegorical island of paradise
A tea pavilion, sea of sand, rocks, trees carved in clouds
A dry waterfall, Japanese steps, lanterns and other traditional motifs
The Tsubukai added in 2026, to complete the aesthetics of the place
A recognised and protected place
In 1993, the garden received the prestigious label "Jardin remarquable de France" which extends over 10 hectares and also offers a large body of water, sculptures and relaxation areas.
A unique experience over the seasons
Whether in spring with the cherry blossoms, the romantic and light atmosphere, or in summer with the soft light, the dense vegetation, peaceful atmosphere ideal for a contemplative moment or meditation session.
Autumn: flamboyant contrasts of red maples, alleys lined with golden leaves, poetic and melancholic atmosphere.
Winter: absolute tranquility pure lines of the dry garden and silhouettes of trees in the cold, for an almost mystical decor.
