The Millau Viaduct
Visit the tallest road bridge in the world, with the bridge's road towering 890 feet over the Tarn river, this is a true feat of engineering and an impressive sight.
The Millau viaduct, or Millau bridge, spans 2.46 kilometres across the Tarn river and valley.
Constructed between 2001 and 2004 with one of its masts 343 metres (1,125 feet) high, makes it 19 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower. It is a major tourist attraction in the Northern Occitanie (formerly Languedoc-Roussillon) region.
The toll charge to drive across the bridge. To get your money's worth make sure that you stop at the motorway rest area before you reach the bridge for the best views.
The best time to visit the Millau bridge is in the early morning, when often the valley below is covered with a blanket of mist creating a lovely vista.
