The 'Sol y Fiesta' in Leucate

The Sol y Fiesta festival returns on May 30 and 31, 2025, for its 26th edition, once again transforming the village of Leucate into an open-air theater for a weekend. This iconic Ascension Day weekend event promises two days of colourful festivities, combining music, street theater, parades, and nighttime shows.

A Total Immersion in Street Art

Starting at 6 p.m., the streets of Leucate come alive with parades, marching bands, batucadas, and concerts, creating a festive and friendly atmosphere for all ages. The festival makes it a point of honor to involve residents and visitors, inviting them to actively participate in the performances, whether by dancing, playing music, or joining the street theater troupes.

Magnificent Shows Not to Be Missed

Each evening holds its share of surprises with exceptional performances:

Friday, May 30 at 9:30 p.m.: The Polymorphes et Populaire Production Company presents Achat et Cétacé légende, a free adaptation of Moby Dick combining live music, acrobatics, and dance.

Saturday, May 31: The Off company presents Ours, Banquise à la dérive, a poetic and visual show that will bring the festival to a beautiful close. A festive and symbolic opening The 26th season will be marked by sunshine, culture, popular enthusiasm, and local commitment. The festival will officially kick off on Friday at 6 p.m. on Place de la République, with an opening ceremony attended by Mayor Michel Py, elected officials, and partners.

Sol y Fiesta accounts for 60% of tourist attendance, and 40% remain during July and August. This also serves as a tribute to the collective commitment to the festival: residents, merchants, associations, municipal services, and the police.
