Originally from Perpignan, Olivier Gelly who created the Payote, set out to design an emblematic symbol, made in France, of the south of France.

The Espadrille makes its comeback ! Payote brings the espadrille up to date and defines it through different colors and patterns. "Noble materials, refined finishes, great attention to detail ... These are all elements that ensure creations that are as qualitative as they are aesthetic." - Extract from the Payote website

Payote a committed company

4 million pairs of espadrilles are sold each year and only 800,000 are made in France. The rest are from Bangladesh and China.

Payote manufactures in a workshop in Mauléon in the Basque country and today employs 14 people. Payote is committed to the 'Apprentis d'Auteuil' in support of under-privilaged children. Concerned about the environment, the company organized a waste collection on a beach in Barcarès in the Pyrénées Orientales. Payote has also has partnered a Spanish company, Seaqual which transforms marine litter into eco-designed fibre. A collection of espadrilles is made with this material.
