The Victor Brun Museum

The natural history museum of Montauban. The genesis of the museum dates back to 1852 when the members of the Société des Sciences (Agriculture and Belles Lettres du Tarn-et Garonne) decided to make their private collections available to the inhabitants of Montauban. Victor Brun, a naturalist, was appointed curator of the museum in 1857.

"You always have to draw, draw eyes when you can't draw with a pencil." - Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres

The museum is located in the former epicopal palace which houses the town hall and the drawing school. It takes the name of two painter-sculptors, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres from the 18th century and Emile-Antoine Bourdelle from the 19th century, both from Montauban and whose works are on permanent display at the museum.
