Under the Bages boardwalks

Spend an afternoon strolling around the Etang de Bages. A change from the traditional beach walks, these wooden passages will offer you a completely different landscape and ideal for wildlife lovers and those who want to get away from the crowds of the beaches. Just 7km from the town of Narbonne in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, the village of Bages offers an interesting alternative to visiting the local beach. The village of Bages is not located on the coast, but on the salt water ponds, which are home to oyster beds and beautiful birds, including flamingos. There is a network of wooden walkways that allow you to cross the calm waters of the lagoon. There is a large play area for children with an ideal picnic spot for families. You can also eat at the cliff-top restaurant, Le Portanel, which specializes in seafood and offers wonderful sea views.

Heritage and sweetness of life

The exploration of Bages begins on the village square, where you will enjoy sunbathing at a table on a café terrace. You can also pass the Sundial Gate, which for years was the main entrance to the old fortified village and dates from the 17th century. You will find the medieval quarter there with the houses attached to each other.

Artists in Bages Several artists have put their luggage in Bages. This is how you can visit three art galleries in the town.
