Where to surf in the Hérault (department 34) in the Languedoc

Where to surf in Hérault? Surfing in the Mediterranean is possible. The sea winds, the Tramontane and the Mistral bring beautiful waves. In Hérault, 3 spots are unmissable in Sète, Carnon and Palavas-les-flots where the Palawaï school is located.

Sète

Le Lazaret in Sète is THE renowned surf spot for local surfers. Lazaret beach is a beach break offering waves suitable for all levels. When the Mediterranean is generous, the Lazaret creates an Atlantic coast atmosphere, with waves reaching up to 2 meters during big waves. Getting there: 28 Corniche de Neuburg 34200 Sète

Carnon

A few kilometers from Montpellier, Carnon also offers ideal conditions for surfing enthusiasts. Carnon beach, bordered by ponds and dunes, constitutes a picturesque setting for water sports enthusiasts. The waves, often moderate, are suitable for surfers of different levels. The presence of nearby ponds adds a unique dimension to the surfing experience in Carnon. For surfers looking for a little more adrenaline, on windy days the Tramontane can create bigger waves, providing a stimulating and varied surfing experience. Carnon, with its laid-back atmosphere, attracts not only locals, but also passing surfers looking for a Mediterranean getaway. Getting there: Carnon beach is located east of Palavas-les-Flots, accessible by the D62 towards Mauguio.

Palavas les Flots

Coquilles beach is one of the three essential beach breaks in Hérault. According to local surfers there is good wave quality even if sometimes a little oscillating. Frontignan

Frontignan, with its stretches of beach stretching to the limit with Palavas-les-Flots, offers another surf spot popular with locals. The Prévost spot in Frontignan offers conditions similar to those of its neighbors, with quality waves and an environment conducive to relaxation after a surf session. The first beach on the right bank of Frontignan, near the sea marina and the marina promenade, is renowned for its fine sand. Parking on Boulevard du Maréchal Foch facilitates access to this beach, allowing surfers to concentrate on the essential: enjoying the waves of the Mediterranean.
