We get it – health and safety probably isn't the most exciting part of your holiday prep. But it really does matter. We're all about extraordinary escapes and unforgettable moments – and making sure you feel safe, relaxed, and taken care of is all part of the experience.
Our villas are handpicked (by real humans with great taste) and regularly inspected. But just like at home – every space is different, so it's worth being aware of your surroundings and taking a few common-sense precautions. Nothing scary, just straightforward advice to keep you safe.
Here's what you need to know before you jet off, so you can get on with the important stuff, like soaking up the sun, sipping a cold drink, and living your best villa life
Before You Travel
-
Get covered
: We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers medical care, cancellation, accidents, and theft. It's not glamorous, but it is essential.
-
Know before you go
: Check the latest travel advice from the
Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)
for up-to-date travel information and advisories for your holiday location.
-
Do your research
: Familiarise yourself with local emergency numbers, healthcare options, and anything else that might be handy if you need support while you're away.
At Your Holiday Home
General Safety
-
Get to know your surroundings
: On arrival, check where the important things are, like the fire extinguisher, smoke alarm, first aid kit, and emergency exits. If there's an on-site contact to meet you, don't be shy – ask them to show you around.
-
Kids & little explorers
: Our homes are all unique, but not all are designed with toddlers in mind. Keep an eye on them around pools, balconies, staircases, and gardens.
-
Lock it up
: When you're out or asleep, lock all doors and windows, and make sure to keep your valuables tucked away – many of our villas have a safe you can use.
-
Mind your step
: Tiles can be slippery (especially with wet feet and cocktails involved). Rustic villas may have the odd uneven step – part of their charm, but worth watching out for.
-
Wildlife & Insects
: In rural areas, it's not unusual to meet the local wildlife. Keep food sealed, bins closed, and pack some insect repellent, just in case.
Pool Safety
-
Supervision is key
: Kids must never be left alone in or near the pool. Appoint an adult to keep watch at all times.
-
Check the depth
: Always familiarise yourself with the pool's depth before attempting to dive. And when in doubt, use the steps or ladder to get in safely.
-
Chemical care
: Pools are cleaned regularly. After a fresh chemical treatment, wait a few hours before diving in. If the water's looking murky, let us or your on-site contact know.
-
Use the kit
: If there's a pool cover or fence, make sure it's in place when the pool isn't being used.
-
No running
: Pool tiles + wet feet = slip central. Walk, don't run.
-
Infinity pools
: We get it, they're stunning, but some have big drops at the far edge. Keep inflatables well away and be extra cautious with kids.
Kitchen & Appliances
-
Get to know the space
: Take a minute to learn how the cooker, oven, and other gadgets work (some holiday homes have instructions, if not, ask your onsite contact for any help). Always supervise around open flames.
-
Water and electricity don't mix
: Make sure hands are dry before using plugs or switches and avoid using anything electrical near water.
-
Cooking with gas?
: If the holiday home uses gas, make sure the space is well ventilated and follow any instructions provided. If you smell gas, report it straight away.
Fire Safety
-
Watch those flames
: Never leave candles, BBQs, or open fires unattended. Always put them out properly after use.
-
BBQ like a pro
: Stick to the designated area, steer clear of overhanging trees and flammable stuff, and keep an eye on the sizzle.
-
Clear exits
: Keep hallways and exits uncluttered so you can get out quickly if needed.
In Case of Emergency
-
Numbers you need
: All emergency contacts will be listed in your arrival information pack.
-
Medical help
: Your villa host or on-site contact can point out the nearest pharmacy, GP or hospital if needed.

Guest Responsibility
We do our part to keep things safe, clean, and well looked-after – but a holiday home is still a home, and some common sense goes a long way:
- Let us know immediately if you spot anything broken or unsafe
- Keep an eye on young or vulnerable guests
- Respect local laws and any guidance your host provides
