Gorges du Verdon

The Gorges du Verdon is a famous canyon with translucent waters in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region of France.

The Verdon river has dug itself into the limestone mass and in places to a depth of more than 700 meters. Rent a canoe, drift on the Verdon and discover its past.

Visitors can explore the area by taking several hiking trails, including the Blanc-Martel trail which ends at the Point Sublime lookout.

The 12th century Notre-Dame de Beauvoir chapel, located in the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, is a must visit. Within the Verdon regional natural park, you will find many museums, including ceramics, at the Earthenware museum with its ceramic exhibitions and the Tourneurs-sur-Bois museum which presents local woodwork.

The largest canyon in Europe

The Gorges du Verdon are the largest canyons in Europe, offering majestic landscapes. The river has for years dug this canyon that we can admire today.

The vulture cliff

The cliffs are home to griffon vultures and black vultures, you will have the chance to admire them in the morning.

Activity paradise

A family getaway by bike around the ridges. For thrill seekers, rock climbers can challenge themselves along the limestone cliffs. There are nearly 900 routes in the Gorges du Verdon, a paradise for climbers from all over the world. You can take beautiful hikes in the heart of this nature protected by the Verdon Region Natural Park, with the famous Blanc-Martel trail but also many other marked paths for all levels. And also the Cadrière de Brandis, or the Sirenians trail.

If you come by car, you can take the opportunity to explore the most beautiful spots in the region and stop wherever you want to enjoy the landscape and take photos. Discover the unmissable belvederes: Dent d'Aire and Escalès.
