Luxurious Longhouse in Pays de la Loire

Renovated longère, Maison Gagnerie is now a beautiful family holiday rental home.

They used to sleep peasants, smallholders and livestock. Now this holiday rental country home sleeps a family of 6 in a beautifully renovated interior.

A longère is a traditional rural building common to the Brittany region, but also found in Normandy, Aquitaine and the Loire.

Located in farming areas, they used to house smallholders or peasants and were often shared with livestock. They were made up of one long open room with all accommodation on the ground floor, the upper floor generally being used to store feed for the animals. The buildings make wonderful renovation projects being completely open, a simple shape and a good size for creating a spacious family holiday rental home.

Modern and stylish

Maison Gagnerie is a wonderful example of a longhouse renovated as a holiday rental home. Located near Châteaubriant and sleeping 6 guests (with additional accomodation available for a further 6 guests), it is now modern and stylish inside with many original features, ensuring that the building maintains its charm.

There are original wooden beams in most rooms and you can see sections of the stone and slate walls beautifully displayed as feature walls.

The lovely blue kitchen features a pizza oven and a range cooker so you can really enjoy catering on your family holiday.

Essential when renovating an old building into holiday rental home, you must have a swimming pool!

Maison Gagnerie has a 10m x 4m private heated swimming pool with a lovely terrace set into the large lawn.
