Notre Dame de Fourvière, not to be missed in Lyon

Basilica From the top of “the hill that prays”, the basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary is classified as a historical monument. It is part of the Lyon site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The interior of the basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is made up of two superimposed churches, with extraordinary volumes, accessible by the forecourt. The church is decorated with 6 stained glass windows that provide natural light highlighting the rich decor of this iconic basilica.

Fourvière in the world Millions of visitors flock every year from all over the world to visit the site of Notre-Dame de Fourvière. In addition, the crypt now houses 11 statues of virgins, from shrines around the world, such as Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, China, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Philippines, Africa and Lebanon. A majestic setting The interior of the basilica consists of two superimposed churches, with extraordinary volumes, accessible by the forecourt. The high church is dominated by three cupolas and lit by six vitals. The materials used for construction and decoration compete in quality and beauty: you will find white marble from Carrara, pink granite, blue marble from Savoy, green onyx, shards of silver and gold, marriage of ebony and ivory.
