Sare, the must-sees of the village of Sare

Labeled “Most Beautiful Villages of France”, the village of Sare is one of the prettiest villages in the Basque Country. It is located at the foot of the peaks of Rhune, Axuria and Ibanteli. You will find in this village a history, a local atmosphere, traditions, and sport.

Find Sare, from the Basque coast

To access the village of Sare from the Basque coast, you must pass through the small pass of Saint Ignace, where you will see the mountains that await you, the landscapes that extend towards the Basque Country, the houses that appear at the corner of each path or path. The village is classified among the Most Beautiful in France.

The central square of the village

The pediment, a place where Basque pelota is played, occupies a central place in the village. The heart of the village also hosts great activities, beautiful houses, shops, restaurants, and cafes. Urrugne, Sare, Bidarray... you will find pretty, unmissable trails for hiking enthusiasts. Climb the Lizarrieta pass, by car or on foot, it is a unique place in the mountain. To get there you can go through the small Saint Ignace pass. You will see the mountains, the landscapes which extend towards the interior Basque Country, as well as the Basque houses which appear at the corner of each path. The famous "Petit Train de la Rhune" offers an unforgettable adventure to the top of the mountain, offering breathtaking panoramas of the Basque Coast, the Pyrenees and sometimes even as far as Spain. Outdoor activities abound, offering visitors a total immersion in the region's unspoiled nature.
