An enriching encounter
Located on the magnificent Atlantic coast of Charente-Maritime, the La Palmyre Zoo in Royan offers an enriching encounter with more than 1,600 mammals, birds and reptiles of 110 different species. The zoo has 200 to 250 births per year.
Preservation of species
Furthermore, the La Palmyre Zoo plays a crucial role in the preservation of endangered species by taking part in around fifty European Breeding Programs and by providing financial support to more than 20 wildlife conservation programs through the globe. These initiatives cover a wide range of endangered animals, from orangutans and elephants in Borneo, to gorillas and chimpanzees in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to lemurs in Madagascar, giant otters in Brazil and tamarins in Colombia. .
Course
The zoo covers 18 hectares and offers a 4.2 km tour circuit.
