Oyster tasting in Leucate

Visit the oyster shacks in Leucate on the Languedoc coast. The coast of the Languedoc-Roussillon, Occitanie is known for it's quality oysters, harvested in the local saltwater lagoons.

A unique and authentic experience, visit the Leucate oyster shacks, open every day, all year round.

The shacks line both sides of an inlet and sell oysters, mussels and clams from their shopfronts, with many also offering tastings on waterfront dining terraces.

The oyster shacks at Leucate are open all day (approx 8am until 8pm). We recommend arriving shortly before lunchtime to bag one of the best tables on the waterfront.

The oysters are served with lemon and a shallot and red wine vinegar dressing and are best accompanied by a local white or rosé wine.

The local oysters are fast growing thanks to the high levels of plankton in the lagoons and are ready to eat after 18 months.

Full of nutrients and believed to be an aphrodisiac, why not give them a try!
