100 year old barn gets a modern makeover in the Midi-Pyrénées.

The owner of Maison de Saint Jean shares how she discovered this wonderful 100 year old barn and restored it to a stunning and contemporary space, now a 4 bed holiday rental home in the Midi-Pyrénées with heated swimming pool.

Well we weren't looking for a house that day back in 2014 but the moment we saw Maison de St Jean we knew it was for us. See the view and you'll understand why...

The owners and their architect had worked hard at creating this stunning and contemporary space out of a 100 year old barn and its incredible location. But it was time for them to move on so we seized the moment and made an offer.

There was potential to be realised. First on our list of improvements, was a heated swimming pool - at 11m x 4m big enough for a proper swim. Then followed luxury Hans Grohe equipped shower rooms (masses of hot water, white fluffy towels) and top-of-the-range Relyon beds for the bedrooms.

Lastly, a sleek, open-plan kitchen which shares the same fabulous view – perfect when peeling the spuds or pouring that first glass of wine. It became our mission to learn from and improve on all the faults we'd ever found in years of renting properties. So there's a good set of knives in the kitchen drawer, the Wi-Fi works and is fast (everywhere). There are bats (and balls) for the table tennis table, plenty of cutlery and fridge space, a high spec Bosch dishwasher, a Weber BBQ and UK TV and radio, outdoor sofas…

Maison de Saint Jean sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms and has a private heated swimming pool.

Only one hour from Toulouse airport, the views are thanks to its enviable hilltop village location with a restaurant a stone's throw away.
