Location
The property sits in open countryside, 2 minutes drive (1,5 km) from of the picturesque village of Eygalières, 15 minutes from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

The countryside surrounding Saint-Rémy is quite beautiful and typically Provençal; garrigues full of wild herbs and olive trees.
One of France's premier tourist attractions, Les Baux lies just 20 minutes away; an 11th century village built into the rocks.
The Roman town of Arles is also only a 30 minutes drive. Many Roman and Romanesque monuments are still in use today; the amphitheatre provides the setting for bullfights and concerts and what remains of the theatre plays host to formal concerts and traditional folk festivities throughout the year. The Cathédrale Saint-Trophime, with its magnificent doorway depicting the Last Judgement carved in stone and its beautiful cloisters, is open to the public for visits and Sunday services.
The necropolis, or Alyscamps, is today a narrow, tree-lined avenue, located just outside the old town.
Many lovely restaurants and pavement cafés. Van Gogh spent two years of his life here, so there are many related tours and souvenirs to be found.
Arles also boasts one of the regions finest markets every Wednesday and Saturday. Overflowing with Provençal goodies - fruits and vegetables, lavender products, soaps, olives, flowers, honey... The list is endless and makes the Arles market an event not to be missed!
Also not to be missed is a day out to Avignon to discover the winding streets and lovely Provençal shops. Here you'll find the wonderful 'Pope's Palace' - the former home of the Pope which really is spectacular. And the infamous 'half-bridge'!
Spectacular, fortified town of Aigues-Mortes 1 hour.
Just over 1 hour to the Mediterranean coast (lovely beaches and town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer).
For wine lovers, this is paradise; domaines and tasting almost on every corner.
The lovely Camargue National Park lies close by. You really will see black bulls, pink flamingos and white horses. Many horse and pony-trekking ranches and great choice of Mediterranean beaches.

Greg - July 2024
What an absolute gem! Le Mas Sixte is a genuinely wonderful place to enjoy the delights of Provence. The bedrooms are a good size - one is a twin - and the living areas (both in and out) are generous. Two showers are helpful for the larger family and all the other amenities you need are provided.
The kitchen is small - it can cope with two people - but that doesn’t really matter. Because you will be spending almost all of your time outside! And it is outside where Le Mas Sixte really comes into its own.
The grounds are huge - big enough for two older teens and a 20-year-old to play cricket. Vigorously! (bring your own stumps!) and the gardens have been really cleverly and thoughtfully designed. Despite the size of the gardens there are different sections to be enjoyed - the dining table by the house, a smaller table elsewhere for those who need to do some work (or haven’t quite yet let work go!), the hammock area for reading, some secluded areas around the rear of the house - and all of them enjoying the most wonderful shade from all the trees and shrubs that have been planted to ensure you can be away from direct sun while enjoying the outside. There’s also a vegetable plot and olive groves.
Away from the shaded areas lies the pool which is in full sun from the moment it rises to the moment it slips behind the low hills in the distance - offering the chance for a cheeky poolside pastis while enjoying some breathtaking sunsets.
The pool is plenty big enough for competitive racing. The BBQ is also here - not the worst place on earth from which to cook.
On the other side of the pool is the boules pit - very large, boules provided.
House cleaner comes in the middle of a fortnight stay, gardeners twice and pool cleaners twice.
The house location is excellent. There are two great vineyards within a minutes drive - and plenty more not much further afield - a supermarket less than 10 minutes drive and Eygalières itself is a total delight! You won’t find many prettier villages in Provence. Fantastic choice of restaurants (incl one with a Michelin star) and at least 7 more serving delicious food. A brilliant boulangerie and boucherie, ice cream shop, chemist, cashpoint, art gallery, bars, small mini-market selling lots of local produce (amazing peaches), clothes shops etc etc. The village market on Friday is huge and sells just about all you would want. It runs from 8am-1pm and must be one of the biggest in the area.
The Alpilles form a beautiful backdrop to everything.
Finally, the absolutely charming owner is always available on the phone to fix any niggles or provide any help.
Le Mas Sixte is a delightful place to stay.

We had a lovely time and were very fortunate with the weather. We are certainly looking to go back to the South of France next year!
