Tourist Tax
Where applicable, Pure France is required to collect and remit local government tourism taxes on behalf of our property owners. These taxes are calculated and collected from guests at the time of booking. Pure France then remits collected taxes to the applicable tax authority on the property owners' behalf.

Location

Just North of Brantôme is the hamlet of Villars. The hamlet itself is unexciting, but it is surrounded by lovely countryside and is a great base from which to explore Château de Puyguilhem and Saint-Jean-de-Côle. The Grottes de Villars (pre-historic caves) are just past the hamlet and were discovered in 1958 and feature cave paintings.

Perhaps the most famous of the Dordogne tourist attractions are the cave paintings around Les Eyzies. There are more pre-historic caves in this area than you could ever visit in a day! Les Eyzies lies at the heart of an unspoilt area of great natural beauty with rolling hills, tranquil rivers and fascinating cliff and rock formations. It has some of the world's most beautiful caves with outstanding stalactite and stalagmite crystallisations. And the cave-lined Vézère valley has been classified as a heritage site by UNESCO.

The most well-known of all is the cave at Lascaux which was discovered in 1940. The paintings date back some 17,000 years.

What a beautiful home you have here - especially those bathroom tiles!! Loved venturing to Grotte des Villars, Bourdeilles, Château des Milandes and can highly recommend Prego in Aubeterre. Only regret is not staying one week longer!

Splendid couple of weeks in this peaceful spot. Particularly enjoyed market days: Périgueux (Wednesday), Brantôme (Friday) and Nontron (Saturday).
Be sure to hit the wine cave in Mareuil early on your visit.
Also enjoyed the Grottes Villars and Jardin as well as the Château in Bourdeilles. Next time will eat at Le Moulin de l'Abbaye but failed to book enough in advance.
For kids: playpark in Brantôme and daily walk to bakers' in Léguillac. Bonnes vacances !

This is a gorgeous house, with outstanding grounds. Had an amazing time enjoying the pool, sunbathing and games (boules and ping pong). Thoroughly enjoyed visiting gorgeous Brantôme, - prettier and more quaint than Périgueux. Happened upon a lovely restaurant in nearby Mareuil. Restaurant La Belle - very welcoming, lovely food& fantastic value for money. All in all, our time here has been wonderful - we have loved it!
